Are the photos conveying a lonely feeling of isolation or is that just my own thoughts seeping out? This photo could also be about discovery or exploration but today the images give me a feeling of a stranger in a strange land. I am essentially a stranger in my own land with no one noticing me or having any interest in my point of view. Of course I'm unwilling to change course in exchange for external validation so it's all of my own doing.
When I look at your images they speak to me with perfect clarity.

Chairs in a row remind me of mostly pointless work meetings where everyone complains about one thing or another and nothing is resolved.

Just wanted you to know you are still affecting the way I look at these things after all this time.

Everybody I talk to is ready to leave with the light of the morning
They've seen the end coming down long enough to believe
That they've heard their last warning
Standing alone each has his own ticket in his hand
And as the evening descends I sit thinking 'bout everymanJackson Browne - For Everyman

Of all the photographers I once followed on photo.net only about a half dozen have posted anything recently. These photo sharing sites seem to have a rather brief life cycle or maybe the human race just suffers from a short attention span.
I love the geometry in all your images. I could look at them for hours. These days I tend to take photos that I pose or direct rather than trying to find or isolate them from the world around me. I want to say that I am looking for a way to relate to other people but the fact is that I am most often attempting to make them over as I would prefer them to be.
I can't bring myself to purge my old photos from photo.net in order to post new ones. I post sporadically on flickr.com these days and spend more of my time on Facebook as https://www.facebook.com/insidetheviewfinder mostly to find people who are willing to stand in front of my camera.
A few of those photos are also posted (without the social fluff) at: http://500px.com/InsidetheviewfinderDixson
It's always a pleasure to hear from you and to be reminded to check out your recent work. I always leave with the inspiration to do a better job.

I miss the grand epoch as well, such is the circumstance of being old. I never wow anyone other than myself. I'm too particular in my own affection for certain things to be able to march along with the goose-step of popularity. Photo sharing sites seem to rise and fall like the little empires that they are. I spend more time on Facebook now trying to cultivate interest in would-be models desperate for fame of their own.
Solitary observation with little or no interaction is the way to go. It asks no favors and offers no compromise. Observe and shoot. The only editing is inclusion or exclusion. Unfortunately the general public is only interested in fleeting celebrity.
I love photography and I adore a good image. I will not be remembered.

She doesn't seem to be convincing me to buy anything today. Well maybe some of those mind altering pills that I see advertised on TV or perhaps a bathrobe to shuffle around the house in.
I've always had a thing for the un-living because they seem completely honest and of course unflinching. A while back one of these creatures hitched a ride home with me and has been philosophizing downstairs and scaring the crap out of unwanted visitors.

Another virtual layer cake. I'm attracted to the reflections in the hood of the car as much as anything else. There is lots to like about this one.

I like the timeless feeling of the image. We get so accustomed to our own small world that we forget about all the other ones out there. I've been taking contrived photos of aspiring models lately. Nothing about them is honest or truthful by intention.

I'm intrigued by the title of this folder and I have wondered the same thing many times. Why aren't more people taking photographs like these? Maybe because they don't understand.

This is a great one. I especially like the crosswalk ending in a fence and the playground tucked away with the soot and heavy metal deposits from the traffic passing by and overhead. I little spot of joy in an unforgiving environment.
Everything about it fits like a well made cabinet.

Alternate title, "Beneath the Boardwalk."
Ocean colors for me too and a lust for rust.

Good advice for anyone who wants to take up the sport of photography.

In these days of bar codes and digital scanners, who is to say that there is no message in the rough texture of a stone or cement artifact? You just need to know how to pull the information out and decode it. In another way this reminds me of an interior decorator's sample chip... This is what the last planet we destroyed looks like.

Perhaps they are only sleeping and dreaming of old clever friends.

Hello everyone.
I'm a little suspicious of this one. It is desert-like or at least like the common misconception that the desert is a void and featureless place.
I don't like the light colored band at the bottom right. This image would actually make more sense to me as a vertical composition. It's quite oppressive as it is.
I know what you are thinking, that pisser Dennis is just in one of his foul moods. Probably right but you'll either have to explain it to me or stop lavishing praise as though it's some sort of creative fertilizer.

I guess I should come around here more often but I don't seem to have the energy (or time) to do everything I would like to. I don't post photos over here any more because I would have to delete the ones I have already posted and I think those do a fair job of telling people something about me.
It looks like Jack has purged his portfolio again. Not sure why since he is a popular fellow with lots of friends. I appreciate any interest that people give me though I'm too obsessed with my own thoughts to try and please anyone in exchange for a kind word. Perhaps that makes me some sort of snob and I'm sort of sorry for that.

Self portrait of a photographer on the prowl. Grrrr...
Perfect for the dustcover of your book.

Something is always tring to become something else and that is hard to capture. Nice work.

I hope the brakes are OK.

I think a reflector on the left would help soften the shadows which are very prominent in the center of the frame. I don't care for the dark area at the top and I would have cropped that out. I also think you should change the angle of the scale so the reflection does not bounce directly towards the camera, either that or buff up the lower parts to that they reflect a more equal amount of light. I like the various textures very much.
I have a feeling that what we each like about this composition is completely opposite, so feel free to disregard the previous comments. You should do your own thing if it makes sense to you.
In a way this reminds me of a scene from a Disney animated movie, maybe more than one. That's freaky. ;-)

You almost make me wish that I had friends.
Great work as always. Alternate title suggestion, "The Plaster Race."

I'm guilty of shooting one or two service covers myself so I feel qualified to comment on this one.
I would say that this rises above the more typical offerings and does what others aim to do which is to enhance the story or experience of a place through the power of abstraction.
Since most people fail at this game, I'll give you a gold star for succeeding.
Alternate title suggestion, "Puppet Regime."

Oh-oh... Now I'm going to have that Leon Russell song stuck in my head all day.

Two towels from the same town. One was rather ordinary but the other led a checkered past...
