  1. Hi Gail. Your shot grabbed my eye because of the brilliant mix of colours and the sharpness throughout. I would perhaps frame it slightly differently, moving the boat in front a bit more off centre into one of the "rule of thirds" points. Also, I think it needs just a slight clockwise rotation to bring the masts up to vertical (although many would think this is just being picky!)

Don't crop too far. The eye travels nicely from the ship along the curve of the beach to the little island. I hardly noticed the distant coast. Colours are brilliant here.

Nicely balanced shot. Colours are a bit bright, but that could just be me or my monitor. I reckon this twisted tree has potential for a folder all of its own. I'd like to see it worked up in B&W, I think that would really impress.
  2. Whipping through the Nature critique in a spare ten minutes means that a photo really has to jump out to catch the eye, and this one did. Very well done. (There are a couple of spots that need attention in Photoshop)

Very nice shot. Like the way the colours of subject and background blend, just like they're supposed to. I find these guys so difficult to photograph - they can move so fast. Well done.

David, I think it's a good idea that doesn't quite come off. The backlighting is clever but the white-out in the top left hand corner distracts, and the bottom right is a bit dark.

This is a much better shot than I managed on a recent visit. The low key lighting nicely creates the gloom of dusk. Despite the forground interest, I find the yellow boat a bit distracting.

I have had a go from time to time with tripod and ND filters, but never come close to anything like this. Like the rest of your portfolio, Greg, this is inspirational stuff. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Hi Matt. I gotta say - you have a lot of nice landscapes in your portfolio and they all have level horizons. Why not this one? (I admit this is a bit of a "thing" with me, but the level of tilt here suggests an uncorrected error, rather than a deliberate creative effort - sorry if I have misinterpreted it.)

I like the colours and the sombre low-key lighting, but I would have preferred a more natural looking stone to what looks like a house brick!
