The only thing that I know about digital ice is that is slows down the scanning process but does save Photoshopping on the backend.

I have a Canon IP4000 and the prints are great. I would expect that the IP5200 will be just as good while producing much better business documents. They say that draft mode has been improved but it still lacks behind HP draft mode but is much faster.
I do not think there is a better choice for what you want to do.

Any kind of animation or sound in ads is quite rude and it just screams that the site and the advertisers do not give a shit about the visitors.
Additionally, it is a health hazzard in so far as it pulls your eyeballs.

I do think that photo.net should be updated. photosig is much better and has a better rating and critique system. It also seems that the contributors on photosig are a step above photonet while photonet is at least a light year ahear of photocafe. It seems that snapshooters live there.
I did visit Flickr and find it difficult to see what is so great. The performance of that site is not very good. What do you like about it?

It would be nice to have the following new features:
1. To be able to configure the number of photos per page so you have
less paging.
2. To be able to set various dates ie last login date, or any date
and time and see only the new photos since that time. Now you have
24hrs or 3 days.
3. Each photo should have a title.

I use Costco paper in my Canon IP4000. However, people think it is made by Ilford in their Swiss plant. I get great results.
I am also looking for a matte paper that is not dead flat but rather has an eggshell sheen to it.

Most of the time you are probably better off with the OEM Lens. However, it is tempting to go 3rd party to save a few bucks.

I use a Canon Pixma IP4000. The results are great. The IP5000 is also stunning. While better because it has a much smaller droplet size I have not been able to read any field test reports by users. I would like to know if the smaller drop size affects print nozzle clogging. I do not know.
I do know that the IP4000 is a great photo printer and is almost as good as an HP business printer for printing business documents. It has a full duplexer built in with two paper feed bins. I use the bottom (cassette) for business documents and the top (auto sheet feeder) for photos. The extrta black pigmented cartridge is great for business documents. The speed of the printer is much faster than the main rivals.
I can see no reason to get anything else. Costco charges about $140. I have seen it on sale at Frys for as low as $120.00

While your bias against Nikkor Zoom lenses may be been well founded in the past, I think that today that bias is just excess baggage. I do not think you will see any difference between a fixed or zoom lense when enlarging even up to 20x25.
The only case for a fixed lense is speed and cost but that does not outweigh the convenience and the fact that overall you will spend less money and have to carry fewer lenses.
