    Hi,

I would use a white reflector in front of her to get a (very) little amount of detail in the shadows. In my display, it looks too black and some detail would make it look a lot better. I know you want this effect and I am not suggesting you make a different picture, but you need something in the shadow part. I will try to find a portrait I did with a similar effect and send it to you later.

    cheers,

    Alma

    The father's watch

    Hi,

THANKS for your comments. I'm glad to see that someone actually took the time to look at the picture and give it some thought. This is a very poor scan of a very sharp picture, I'm sorry, my scanner is soooo bad... The negative is 4x5, but since it is a cross process negative, I had a hard time getting the colors right, so I had to scan the print, which is bigger, and the scanner was absolutely incapable of better results.

That said, the watch is not in the water, it's merely touching the surface of a wet mirror. I focused in the mirror reflection, so the blurred part is the actual watch, which of course, is very old and not waterproof. It's not exactly my father's watch, but someone else's, and it is very carefuly and lovingly treasured.

I hope you will read this comment since I took so long to answer.

    greetings,

    Alma

I like the picture, although in my computer (which is not very reliable by the way) the blue seems too manipulated, probably would improve with more natural looking blue.

Hi, I like her pose, the colors, the lighting, but I think it is way too soft. In a portrait like that one I would like to see at least one sharp thing (or at least less soft).

    Hi everybody,

I am not sure how this photo looks, my display is not calibrated so I

cannot really appreciate the actual contrast and colors. I would be

happy to know what you think of it.

I am not sure how this picture looks. My display is terrible. In a

good (calibrated) one the lights in the original photo are very

bright but here it looks dark.
