I shot this one in the Louvre Museum. It's one of my first attempts to
use a polarizing filter to get rid of reflections. Thanks for your
comments and/or ratings!

Michel, this one stood out as I browsed through your portfolio. I love the silhouette work and the golden atmosphere; that reinforces the mysterious aspect of the place. As stated earlier in the comments trail, me too I would feel more confortable with more sky and less water. The central monolith is a bit too close to the upper edge for my confort. But anyway great shot, I jumped on this one. Thanks again for passing by my picture. Regards, Axel G.

Sally, Trisha, thank you for your comments. True, Chicago architecture is so unique!

Casey, thanks for the honest and constructive comment. You are right, this is late morning light. I did come to the park earlier & later that day but in other areas. I uploaded to this folder an other view of Thor's Hammer at sunset. Sun was no longer lighting the rocks and whole different colors appeared. Best regards, Axel G.

Kamil, thanks for your comment. I am sure this would look great as well in b&w. I will follow your advice and play with my photo editing software.

Kent, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. My second visit to Utah was great and Bryce Canyon NP definitely exceeded my expectations. I have seen pictures of Bryce in winter and do think as well it's worth a visit at that time of the year. Any recommendation as to when is the best winter month to visit? Probably late winter in March when hoodoos are still capped with snow and roads are reopened to traffic?

Use of b&w conveys sandstone texture and contrasts so well.

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. This is taken from Sunset Point. At
the time I took the picture, the sun was no longer lighting the
hoodoos directly and a whole different set of colors was then visible.
Please have a look at the other Bryce Canyon images in my portfolio
and compare colors and contrasts from the same formations taken at
different moments of the day.

Thank you for your comments Sally.

Thanks Sally. This is downtown Chicago. The brown building is the "Carbide and Carbon building", I guess one of the early skyscrapers in Chicago. The tall white one in the back is the Amoco tower.

Hi Sally, yes a little, this is slightly off the beaten path on the rim trail, close to one of the main view points (Bryce Point if my memory is good)
-
Sally, thanks. I was in a hotel very close to the Park entrance (15 minutes by car) so I could be there for sunrise.
-
Yes Sally, those limestome columns are called hoodoos, this is an Indian word.

Thanks Ray. Tire thread... good one. I hadn't seen it that way, now I get your point.

The Sydney Opera roof makes some interesting abstract. Thanks in

Offshore Angola on Kizomba field, one of Exxon's biggest developments
in West Africa. This semi-submersible rig (GSF Rig 140) is drilling
oil wells in water depths of 700+ meters. In the foreground, the
supply boat carries all equipment required for the completion of the well.
