How can they possibly justify this?
07/08/2007
Leica have announced that the UK suggested retail price of their sucessful
LEICA M8 digital camera body (in either silver chrome or black) will rise on
1st October 2007 from ?2990 to ?3390 including VAT.
This advance notification is given to enable M enthusiasts, who have yet to
purchase an M8, a chance to purchase prior to the increase.
Glad I bought my MP when I did.

Strange why people should worry so much about people photgraphing their kids in a public place when the figures show that the majority of child abuse cases involve people known to the child.
A study in three states found 96 percent of reported rape survivors under age 12 knew the attacker. Four percent of the offenders were strangers, 20 percent were fathers 16 percent were relatives and 50 percent were acquaintances or friends. Among women 18 or older, 12 percent were raped by a family member, 33 percent by a stranger and 55 percent by an acquaintance. http://www.advocatesforyouth.org/PUBLICATIONS/factsheet/fsabuse1.htm
Perhaps on this evidence we should lock up fathers as a matter of course, just in case.

Chech here for review of 70mm http://www.ephotozine.com/equipment/tests/testdetail.cfm?test_id=483
Seems to be a good lens. If you do not own Macro why not keep it?

My voucher book turned up last week from Canon.
I ordered it on 28 October, and 3 times since then.
You have until 31 January 2007 to make claim
I just happen not to need vouchers for
Canon EOS 300mm/f4 IS and EOS 1.4 extender

When I purchase my EOS 5D, I did not think that I would be buying any further lenses.
So I have either put it some where safe and forgotten about it or threw it out.
This year I decided to treat myself to some new Canon gear so bought DO 70-300 IS lens & EF 17-40 f4 L together with EF 24-105mm f/4L & Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX.
year and remembered about the rebate scheme.
Canon website states that replacement vouchers can be obtained by completing the online form and the vouchers would be sent out within 10 days. http://canonextrapromotion.onlinerebates.com/faq.aspx
I followed their instructions on 27 or 28 October but no replacement vouchers received.
Towards the end of November was starting to get a little panicky so sent recorded delivery letter no reply and have since sent 3 more recorded delivery letters and finally received email advising I send in claim without vouchers.
Which I sent in recorded international delivery to Tipperary. Fingers crossed.

Had similar problems here in UK.
Originally applpied via Canon site for replacement voucher book on 27 October 2006 still not arrived.
Sent 4 recorded delivery letters and last week receievd an email advising me to send in claim without vouchers, which I did together with copy of email. Awaiting response will keep you advised.
Rebalte claims were for 70-300 DO and 17-40 F4 L.

As an alternative have you considered an ExpoDisc see http://www.expoimaging.net/products/product_detail.aspx?id=MTAwMQ== for details.

It appears as though the Minolta Colometer no longer made.
Apparently Gossen still make the Colourmaster 3F retails in UK for 590.

I have been following the ongoing thread in Amateur Photographer here in the UK about Police stomping over photographers for taking photos in public places.
Here's the latest bit of lunacy from London's Mayor Ken Livingstone, taken from AP 1 June
?Once again law-abiding photography enthusiasts risk becoming the target of police tactics designed to catch paedophiles.
Innocent photographers face a potential crackdown on taking candid pictures in public as a result of new measures warning parents to be vigilant about strangers taking pictures of children using digital cameras and camera phones in London's parks.
The alert ? announced by London Mayor Ken Livingstone - will fuel existing fears which are supported by the past experiences of AP readers that police officers presume guilt on the part of amateurs taking pictures of children in public.
In a move likely to alarm law-abiding photographers everywhere Livingston plans to erect warning signs in public areas in London, including Trafalgar Square.
For the full story - and how it might affect you and your photography - see next week's AP dated 11 June (on sale 7 June)."
I agree with prevous posts "1984" has arrived just a bit late.

Have a look at Billingham bags. I have used a 550 for a long time very comfortable to carry.
I use mine to carry Bronica ETRSi 40, 50, 75, 150 and 250mm lenses plus 2 spare cacks and Metz hammerhead flash.
