  1. There is not much chance that I would ever give any website including this one either a critical ISP e-mail address or a physical mailing address. As soon as somebody gets the money bug, the information would be sold in bulk to advertisers.

I already get enough spam and viagra e-mail and I keep a big wastebasket next to my mail bin outside. My condolences to all the trees were murdered to print some of that junk.

  2. <p>Tuition, room, and board at RIT is presently quoted at $33,759 per year for

full time undergraduate. Photography students must also own a considerable

amount of equipment. To get out of there with a degree either BS or BFA is about

$120,000 to $150,000. A link to the RIT tuition information is below:</p>

<p>Brooks Institute of Photography has been in trouble with the law concerning

misrepresentation of employment potential and opportunities. Brooks is a for

profit  trade school owned by a company called CEC. There has been

    considerable litigation against that company.</p>

  3. Where I live, hiking, boating, and recreation areas attract a lot of drug use and public drinking. Vandalism is common. I always try to becareful about what may be in the vehicle and who may be around.

Additionally, if I am parking in a secluded area I will take a quick shot of my car and any around it. Prefereably catching license plates. It there ever were a problem, that information might be useful.

  4. I can fit a Tamron 500mm and Canon 10D in a Lowepro Mini Trekker backpack with the hood taken off and slipped backwards over the lens. There is still room in adjacent compartments for two more lenses. The bag and contents has a replacement value of about $3500 USD. It fits easily in an overhead compartment.
  5. Anyone who has ever spent many years in a technical university knows that ones entire life is based on a numerical evaluation from 65 to 100 percent. It is a most bizarre operant conditioning that even Dr. Mengele would be proud of.

The TRP is no different and I suspect its roots were academic in nature. In a wild twist of fate I once hit #1 on the 3-day for several hours until they turned the nudes back on. The TRP does not pay a dime and the educational photos that I sold probably would not break into the 4's. It is best to just think of it as an illusion in cyberspace.

  6. The system does not like many of the special characters. The copyright symbol is a good example. If I were to drop the "c" symbol in this box ? it will probably show up as a question mark.

It did, it did, I tat I saw a question mark.

  7. <p>One this date at 14:10 EDT, images #1, #4, and #6 in the default TRP actually have me laughing out loud. Those represent the best work of Pnet for

the past three days. The website has changed a lot over the past year. It is no

longer acceptable to shoot a clean well exposed shot. You most have a gimmick,

prefererably with boobs or lesbian action scenes.</p>

  8. <p><i>Since we have the entire spectrum of levels here on PN, even advanced students might benefit from such an excercise.</i></p>

<p>My recollection of RIT was that weekly critiques were on Friday. I can't imagine any serious photography students having time for this. The not so serious ones might, but you'd have to catch them before they fire up a second bong bowl.</p>

  9. I read their copyright information page. Snapsoid claims that all of their images are "Creative Commons" free for use as long as attribution is given. Once an image shows up there, it enters the free blogosphere. The "Tinypic" website in the US is the same way. That is as good a reason as any for everyone to paste copyright notices on there images and register.

There is one positive note, if the Snapsoid website were any slower, it would be running backwards.

  10. I agree with David Atherton, that withholding the name from the "Rate Recent Que" would help reduce malicious activity. However, right now I have a popular image making the rounds on blogs in the Pacific Rim. For that reason, I always embed my name and copyright mark as a necessary evil.
  11. Try bookmarking the Log-in page as a favorite instead of the main page. That way you will not see as many graphics prior to logging in.

It is unfortunate that with cable television, broadband, and DSL, that advertising quickly expands to fill the available bandwidth. The 56k dial-ups must be an even worse problem with many other websites.

  12. I posted a photo for critique last night (8/21) and saw the same problem. If you look through the Critique Forum, on recent images you will see that the only ratings are from people who rated directly.

As to the website's difficulties, just signing in to post this message to a considerable amount of time.

  13. You should be able to delete the camera link under the photo title using the "Edit Information" function. Go into the edit screen and deselect "Camera Type" and confirm the change at the bottom of the screen. That should make the link go away.

In your equipment list, you might be able to create a new camera model such as "Canon Sucks, Nikon Sucks, Etc." It would be interesting to see what that links to :-)
