Hi. I found a picture on photo.net that I really admire. Here is
the link. http://www.photo.net/photo/3136613
If anyone knows how to get this effect during post processing in
Photoshop please let me know. I would really like to try it. Thanks
in advance.

Thank you everyone! The input really helps. Kristen.

Where do you go for the DPP update? Is it on Canon USA website? Thanks, Kristen

Hello all! When using my 20D in manual mode with 550EX, does the
exposure indicator take into account the additional light that will
be provided by the flash unit? For example, if I look at the
indicator to determine how close I am to standard exposure, do I need
to underexpose to compensate for my flash unit? Or does the camera
communicate with the flash to predict how the flash will illuminate
the scene? Forgive me if this is a basic question--I'm still trying
to get the flash thing down. Thanks for your input. Kristen

Beautiful shots guys!! Thank you for taking your time to help a beginner. Appreciate it. I will try putting these into practice. Kristen

Okay, that makes sense. I'll try it. Thanks!!

Hi Grant,
I took this picture in portrait orientation with the lightsphere pointed up. The top was on. Thanks!!

Hello! I have been using my 20D in manual mode with my 550EX and
Lightsphere. I have been getting some harsh looking lighting. Just
wondering what settings you use to get a softer ambient light look
while using fill flash. My understanding is that when used in manual
mode your speedlight becomes primary light and ambient is fill
light. What would be a better alternative setting? Would it help to
use negative FEC? You'll notice in the picture I have posted there
are some harsh shadows. This was taken outdoors in the evening.

Thanks Todd, I had to laugh at the tongue complaint too. Pretty funny. I had a look at your website--nice job. It is always good to get feedback from those who actually know what they are doing--and have the pictures to prove it!! Kristen

Thanks Norman!! I'll watch my histogram a little closer.

Thanks for the input. Just wanted you to look a little closer at the photo of mother and baby. The mother was kissing the baby and the baby happened to open it's mouth (as baby's often do). The mother's tongue was not involved. I understand if it isn't your taste. Also, let me know more about the legality issue--where I could find information on that. This is my child, but it would be good to know more for the future. Thanks, Kristen

Thanks Axel. I put some of the photos in the forum. Appreciate the tip!!

Hello. I have been studying photography for about 6 months now. Due
to family obligations, taking a class is not feasible at this time.
I was wondering if some of you would take a look at "My Favorites"
folder and offer some opinions on my work--what am I doing right and
what could be done differently.

I appreciate it

I agree with the Lightsphere recommendation. I purchased one a few months back and it has not let me down yet. Yes, it does look funny--I had a friend ask, "Is that a flash or are you happy to see me". I had to laugh and I won't ever think of the Lightsphere in the same way.

Hi. I found a website of a photographer that I really admire. The
photograph on her home page really interests me.
www.footprintsphotography.com It doesen't really look like color,
black and white or sepia. Is is sepia desaturated? If anyone has
any comments on her technique and how this effect would be
accomplished, please advise. Thanks, Kristen

Thanks so much to you all!! I will enjoy putting these tips to work. Kristen

Hello, I am quite new to photography in general. I am not in a
position right now to take a class due to time restraints and family
obligations. However, I am eager to learn. I tried a little
landscape photography here at a local lake and I was wanting some
opinions and constructive criticism. Please take a look if you have
time and let me know what you would have done differently. Thanks,

We will be staying near Durango CO (Vallecito Lake) and Ouray during
our vacation to Colorado. Anyone familiar with these areas? I would
really like to capture some shots of wildflowers--Where would be a
good location for this in mid June? I have seen a few posts saying
that mid June is a little early for wildflower photography. We are
stuck with this date so I will be doing the best I can with it. Any
suggestions on photographing this area would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot to all of you. This gives me an idea of what direction I need to take from here. I really appreciate it. Kristen

Hello. I am still fairly new to photography. I own a 20D and have
been uploading my images to Mpix.com. I am noticing that all of my
prints have more of a red cast than appears on my monitor. I have
calibrated the monitor using the simple "by eye" method that my PC
recommends. The only adjustments suggested were to brightness and
contrast. It doesen't seem to me that this will solve my problem.
What adjustment should I make so that my prints look like my
monitor? We just bought a new computer but opted to keep our old
monitor. It is a Compaq MV720--probably close to 8 years old. Any
suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks Nadine! That does make more sense to me now. Just exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate your input.

Hello again Rob. I am sorry, but I haven't really gotten a satisfactory answer using that search. Nadine Ohara asked me to post the question in this forum to see if there were some more experienced with this product. If you happened to see the answers to my specific questions somewhere, please direct me to that link. I am really interested to know the mechanics of how this thing diffuses flash with the dome removed. Thanks!
