1.
My printing style is just like Brooks. Costo for Colour and A Brother B&W Lazer for all other. I do have a Canon Selphy 4X6 Colour printer which saves me a trip when I only need a few 4x6 prints. It prints what I see on my monitor.

 2.
William, Thanks for all that good advice. In fact I do have a 1.4 Canon converter. That i used with my 300 until I got a crop digital body. I bought a 5d that is described as pristine on ebay by a seller with a 100% satisfaction rating. Canon did not say what was wrong with my 7d but they will fix it for $200US, which I think is their standard service charge.
The good news is I will have a full frame and a crop body and they can back each other up. The bad news is they are not the latest design.
I really appreciate all of the helpful advice from photo.net posters
Graham

 3.
William,
Here is a full list of my lenses. Canon 50 1.8, Canon 300 -f4L, Sigma 180 macro 3.5,
Canon EFS 18-135, Canon 28-135, Canon 100-400 L ,

Tamron SP 150- 600

 4.
Brett, Jos, David,Christian,Geoff, Mark, Kelly.
Thank you so much for letting me benefit by your experience. A lot of good advice and things to consider. The body is on it's way to Canon Canada. I will make my decision when they respond. In the meantime I have a new Panasonic LX 100 4/3rds sensor, point and shoot, which is a great walking around camera, but no use in the studio.

 5.
Martin, I Have four batteries. They can't all be tired.

 6.
William- I see what you are getting at. I have a lot of Canon lenses and the only one that is designed for a crop camera is the 18-135 kit lens. If I go full frame I have a 28-135 .

 7.
My current body is a 7d. My subjects are primarily ,birds flowers insects. I also do family snapshots and a few studio portraits.
7d fills my needs. For some time, my battery would often discharge if I left it in the camera. The lens on the body autofocus on off did not make a difference. I took the battery out when I parked the camera or I just replaced it, if I forgot. Staff at my camera store told me it would cost $250 to repair it,so I just procrastinated, as far as solving the problem.
Yesterday I set up to do some studio portraits . I replaced the battery and the camera came to life. I put my Radio Slave 4i that I have been using for years in the flash shoe and the camera died. Changing batteries will not revive it. It will have to go to Canon for repair.
I know that I should have a spare body anyway, so what should I buy. Posters on this forum recommend the 5d. They are available at reasonable prices on ebay. Problem is, the design is 10 years old and technology is changing so fast, would a new "Rebel" not be a better alternative.

 8.
You do not say which 3rd party manufacturer you are considering. Sigma and Tamron make good quality lenses. I have a Sigma 180 F3.5 macro which has preformed flawlessly. I bought it new. You have to be careful buying used equipment. Make sure the seller has a 100% satisfaction rating and take into consideration why it is being sold.

 9.
Thanks again Edward. I will manage my files as you suggest.

 10.
Thanks Edward. I appreciate your help My experience is that if you do anything outside lightroom, you must synchronize the folder to update it. I guess I will have to get some one on one help with the program. I really like most of the features but the catalog drives me crazy.

 11.
Thanks Tudor. I have found most of the files. The problem I have with Lightroom is that I rename and put files in folders using the Lightroom library, and Lightroom does not always make the changes in the files on my data storage drive. I make changes in one session and the next time I access the Lightroom catalogue the files are moved and stored in another file by date. I could go back to just managing the whole thing on my data drive except that my operating system can't open CR2 files.
e

 12.
I have been using Lightroom 5.7 for a couple of years. I import all my files thru Lightrooom and switch to Photoshop thru Lightroom so that Lighroom can keep track of my files. Recently I had to replace my motherboard and since then when I fire up Lightroom there are no images in the files, then it populates the image files from the top down and shows the number of images in each file. I don't remember that happening before.
I was cleaning up some files in Lighroom this morning. I closed the program. when I went opened Lightroom this afternoon there were no images and no files. The files are all on my hard drive and I can access them through Photoshop but Lightroom can not find them. Please help me.

 13.
Thank you Andrew & Dan. I appreciate your help.
Graham

 14.
I have been using Lightroom for a couple of years now and I have a lot of image files in my system that have shot in raw and processed in Lightroom. What will happen to these files if I sign up for cloud based Lightroom software. Will the changes I made in Lightroom be lost.

 15.
JDM, Mike, Andrew & Eric. Thanks so much for your help. Looks like I will have to reinstall the software.
Graham

 16.
Thanks for you reply JDM.
When i right click on a CR-2 image in Bridge . I get three options.
OPEN
OPEN WITH
OPEN IN CAMERA RAW
When I click on Open nothing happens.
When I click on Open With -COM Surrogate 6.1 default comes up
When I click on Camera Raw I get the Camera Raw is not enabled message

 17.
When I select a CR2 file in Bridge and try to open it in Camera Raw in Photoshop I get the message in the attached Screen Shot. When I am in Photoshop I can go to my menu and select the file from my hard drive and it will open in Camera Raw . Problem is I do not get a thumbnail of my file before I select it. I can select the file in mini bridge and it will open in Photoshop Camera Raw. My software can read Raw files but I can't open them with bridge. I dont know how to post my screen shot so here is what it says.
Camera Raw editing is not enabled
Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.

 18.
What Dan said. I have a Cotton Carrier and I can carry a 7d with a 100- 400 all day without putting any strain on my back.
