It a very interesting and original point of shoot, indeed. Wish I were there :)
IMO, cons are: blind spot of bight light, somewhat overall softness, tight crop. But - this is only my personal opinion, nevermind :)

I think it should be a one huge softbox at background? Second thought: it was a wide-angle shot (25-30mm at crop)? Just curious :)
