  1. The advance lever stuck - cant snap a shot or wind the film. Took out the film, put in a new roll and same

    thing. Cant shoot or advance.

I bought it NEW 4 months ago and registered it with Leica so its under warranty. I can not seem to find a

phone# to call Leica so I can send it in. Im in the USA and have the address to send it to, but would lik eto

call them 1st. Does anyone have the # to Leica in Northvale, NJ?

OR does anyone have a solution for the frozen film advance lever? Maybe its something I am overlooking??

    Thanks!

    Steve

  2. Why is the 50 Noctilux $3899? Why is the 28 F2 $3k? Why is the M7 $3500 for a film body?

Why? Becuase they can and do sell them at these prices. There are people who can afford

these cameras and lenses and that is the market that Leica sells to. I think the prices are a

bit out there, and I feel a new M7 should go for $2k, not $3500 - I feel the M8 should be

around $3500, not $4800, I feel the Noctilux should run $2k not $3800 , but I still bought

a brand new M7, 50 cron and Noctilux. My friends say Im crazy, and honestly, my DSLR

photos are better than my M7 photos, but I have never enjoyed shooting like I do with the

    M. I just wish I could afford a new 35, 24 and 90 - But Im BROKE.

If Leica came out with the M8 at $2k, they would of killed their film sales 100% - Think of

the M8 as an M7 with motor M, which would run close to $4800 - Now see the value of the

M8 as it is digital, built to the same quality standard, and has a built in continuous

shooting mode. It's a deal if you compare it to the M7 or MP.

Expensive, yes. Worth it? I think so as for me, it's a life-long, one time purchase. I just

started adding some of my M7 shots to an online gallery page...

  3. The resolution comment was way off. 10MP is plenty to go as bug as y ou need. I printed

many 20X30's that look STUNNING and I shot them with a 4MP D2h. 10MP is PLENTY and I

for one, would not want more.

If you like RF shooting then the M8 will be the cam to get. I like my M7 for its size, quality

of build, quality of lenses and the joy of using it. When I used to own a Canon 1ds it was

so huge and heavy I never took it out. It ended up getting dusty while my Oly E1 went with

me. Also, the 1ds was horrible at high ISO. I would bet the M8 would provide better quality

    files than the original 1ds.

After recently buying an M7, this is all I shoot with now, and have been for the past 4

months. Love it, and if I ever get the $ I will go for an M8 as well.

  4. Not true on being sold out through 07. B&H has not offered preorders and when they get

their huge shipment in, they will go up to the ones fast enough to buy them up. My local

shop also says they will have some available, and are still offering pre-orders.

  5. LUCAS

I do find digital files plasticky, but there have been exceptions. Notably the Epson Rd1 -

found the quality very filmlike. The Nikons, Canons, etc are very plasticky for my tastes.

Im hoping the M8 will be more like the Rd1, but even still, I won't buy one for a while.

  6. Looks worth the $4795 to me. Solid build, and it looks and sounds amazing. Much better

than I imagined. If the DMR quality is anything to go by, the M will have some AMAZING

digital files. Being able to use the M lenses, being compact, quiet and being an RF is why I

WOULD pay $5k for the camera. I bought a Canon 1ds when they 1st came out for $7k - I

HATED It and sold it weeks later at a $1500 loss. Too big, too heavy, too loud and I

realized it was not a pleasure to use.

So those who prefer SLR, go with a Nikon D200 at $1899. But for those who prefer RF, the

M8 is going to be a sweet camera at only $1300-$1500 more than the M7 (which I own

    and love)
