  1. You humble me Andy. Thank You.

Back to 35mm's i think on the Leica Customer Forum there was a long discussion on the

Zeiss lenses. I handled one of these too i liked the built in "notch" on the focus ring.

A friend of mine has one of these and swears by it. If you want his email address Walter just

    email me

  2. Walter

    yes i took them

all the images from Come On Pilgrim right up to Bossanova and one for BBC B sides i think

everything else was done by others as i'd refused to do provide further images over a debate

    about copyright laws.

strange but nice - i sold a whole lot of prints to the singer Charles a few months ago

from the Doolittle album some 15 years later!

  3. A fellow PNet and RFF contributer Don Dudenbostel who makes some excellent images

recently aquired the Voightlander 35/1.2 and from what i've heard he is very happy with it.

(Don if you see this thread please chip in!)

I think it goes for $819 USD on Stephen Gandy's site Cameraquest. It's a big lens though -

    i

had a good look at one in Bangkok where i based. In the end i went for the 35 lux because

    of

it's compact size and picture making qualities. For colour images i've heard the new Lux

ASPH is a top performer and if you had the cash you'd not be disappointed!

All depends what you want it for nad if you really need the extra stop.

  4. Walter congrats on your M6 ttl

This question re which 35mm? comes up many times - a search on this forum, RFF and

the Leica Customer Forum will yeild many interesting threads, some with images posted.

Personally i went for the older 35/1.4 lux to match my 50/1.4 lux pre ASPH. For what i

do in B/W i'm very happy with it. It's been said that it's performance at 1.4 is questionable

with soft edges but again i use it a lot at 1.4 and really like the way it captures an image

and it's sharp enough for me with 400 film.

check out all the different forum threads on 35's and see what you think?

    good luck

BTW i'd hang on to your 50

  5. This is an interesting question Matthew that i ask myself many times as i often travel with

    120 and 35mm. Usually a couple of Leica M's and either a Fuji GW690III or a Plaubel

Makina 670. Apart from the bulk and extra weight of the 120's it's the amount of 120 film

that really takes up the extra space. Both systems serve very different purposes and for an

extended trip i'd certainly take both. Back up for me would be another body not a P and S.

I tend to use slower film on the 120's as it's resolution i'm after with this size film.

400 TX is my standard for 35mm

However having said all this, I've just returned to the UK from SE Asia for a few months,

the only camera i bought back was a Leica MP with 35 lux and 50 elmar. Very minimal and

    it feels good!

  6. I've got to say this is one of the funniest threads i've read in ages about a pointless subject

    - thanks for the hijacking of this thread and making it readable

Chuck you want to know everything except sharpnes? why?

Apples and Mangos? SLR v Rangefinder, Digital v Film? what a pointless question.

Love the leek and potato soup and reading room pictures Trevor and congrats on

publication of images in Tatler mag Andy.

IMHO It's the photographer that makes the difference, Chuck, not the equipment.

  7. I had the 0.85 TTL a couple of years back and the 1.25 magnifer for use with the 50 noct and

the 75 lux but in the end i sold them both and reverted to the 0.75 which works just fine for

my 50 lux and elmar. I prefer the less cluttered M4 viewfinder but i'm also very happy with

the MP 0.75. I agree with Christoph re space around the frame it allows me more room to

    anticipate the shot.
