It is a stunning shot, but judged alongside some of your other work, it is not 'perfect' as some of the others here have stated. What lets it down IMHO is lack of detail in the sky. I know that is something you have no control over. A lot of my own shots have been ruined by having 'too good' a weather. I would love to have been there during the night before and taken advantage of the clear skies to take a star trail shot!!!
Still I love your photography immensely and I really admire your dedication in getting out there into the real wilderness.
Keep up the good work

Zdrasti Mariana,
I love your images. You are one of the first great BG landscape photographers I've had the opportunity to come across. If you know any others, I'd love to hear from you about them.
I am a Bulgarian living in UK, but I hope to start visiting the "homeland" again & try & capture some of its beauty too.
Keep up the great work & keep in touch

You really have captured the essence of these falls. Top Marks for that. Could I ask how you managed to take the shot so close to the falls? The spray must have been very intense so close to the base of these large falls. Thanks again for sharing.

Hi Phil,
Thanks a lot for the comment on my website. I am pleased you found my tech details & links section useful. I love your galleries too. This shot particularly. the drama in the sky is astonishing & the sand + rocks in the foreground perfectly ballance the scene. Keep up the good work.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the critique of my Tower of the Virgin Startrails shot. I love your version. You have angled the camera upwards, which has produced a dramatic perspective. The storm clouds overhead really add to the drama of the scene. Well Done!!!

Hi Will,
Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'd never contemplate using the polarizer on the 10-22 with clear sky, since the effect will only be pronounced in parts of the sky. When the sky is overcast (such as with the photo above), I can get away with it. In this shot I used the polarizer to improve the colour of the foreground rock & light-up sand.
And no, I did not use a ND grad as such. What I do is I shoot RAW, then make different exposures in Capture One & then I combine them in PS using a Gradient Mask. If the luminance difference between the foreground & the sky is big, I'll actually bracket & use the underexposed version for the sky. This method takes more storage space & more post processing time, but yields better results & saves me from having to buy into a filter system.
All the best

Tech Specs:
- Camera: Canon EOS-20D DSLR
- Lens: EF-S 10-22 f3.5-4.5 USM
- Aperture: f16
- Shutter: 2 secs
- ISO: 100
- Filters: Hoya S-HMC PRO1 Circular Polarizer
Work in software:
I shot this shot in RAW & processed it using Phase Oneメs Capture One

adjustment, Dynamic Range blending (to darken the sky), contrast
enhancement & sharpening.

This is the best photo of Crater Lake that I have ever seen. Well Done!!

Me and my friend went to Corfe Castle to capture the Sunrise. We
thought we would have the place to ourselves. We were wrong. There
were another 4 pairs of photographers including the distinguished
photo.net member Adam Burton. All of us got one hell of a view!!!
Enjoy

I love the reflection of the clouds in the foreground pool as well as the subtle colours. Well Done. Luben - www.solev.net

This is a stunning capture indeed & it is well worth the long treck. I do think it is between 1/2 and a full stop underexposed though. At least it looks that way on my monitor. Great shot none-the-less. All the best. Luben - www.solev.net

Hi All,
I got up at 2am & drove over 100 miles (each way) in the hope of
getting this scene. It rained most of the way there, but the
weather turned in my favour just in time.
Hope you like it

I like the foreground, but there appears to be too much of it & the lack of a object which stands out confuses the eye. The cliffs are well exposed, but the sky shows very obvious use of an ND Grad. Some people find this appealing, but I personally think the effect is overdone in this case. Finally, it is a little weird to have a seascape without a good view of the sea itself. You were unfortunate in the fact that you were shooting at low tide. I took this shot from exactly the same place looking the other way (but at high tide) and got a better beach:

Shame I too somewhat messed-up my foreground subject!!!
All the best

Jim, The colour of the sky is purely due to the White Balance selected in Phase One. No other colour correction was applied to the image. Also thanks for the advice on framing.
-----
Kamran, you are correct, I used bulb exposure. While the exposure was happening, I was sitting in the relative safety of our hire car :-)

Just thought I'd share my first ever lightning photo with you all.

Hi All & please VIEW LARGER.
This shot is similar to a recently posted one
(http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3315568). It was taken
on the same night. The only difference was changing from the 50mm
to the 17-40mm and then cropping the result to the 20x8 panoramic
ratio.
Which one do you prefer & why?
All the best.

Hi All,
This is a sunrise shot of the same subject featured in mynight trails photo. This one is actually a 4 shot stitched pano with final resolution of 6300px x 2500px. Please hit the "Details" tab for more technical info.
Hope you like it.

This is the best Sunset shot I've seen of Durdle Door. And I thought one could only get nice Sunrise shots at this location!! Well Done.

What do you make of it? What would you have done differently? This
is one of several shots taken at the same place. To see the others

Thanks in advance for your comments

Hi All,
I recently took this sunrise image of Donnington Castle in Berkshire
UK. The image is a composite of 10 individual Canon 20D shots,
which have been stitched & blended to produce this 20x8 panoramic
print. You can see the individual parts of the image here:
http://www.pbase.com/luben/image/39496972
Blending between the darker & lighter shots was done to increase the
available dynamic range, since I don't use ND grads to darken the
sky. Photos were taken using the 17-40f4L lens.
What do you think of the framing? And how about the PS work? Is
this a believable image, or does it look doctored to you. I was
going for the natural look.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
This is my first foray into the world of Photo.net. Standard is so
high, I had to start with one of my personal favourites - the
manmade waterfall at Virginia Water, Windsor. Image is taken with a
converted Sony DSC-F717. Any critiques & ways to improve on the
image would be much appreciated. I hope to take the same image with
the autumn colours & post it here soon.
Thanks in advance

A Rare Perspective Of San Francisco Under The Bay Bridge

I too had that dilemma when visiting SF on holiday with my wife. She did not want to do a 'drive-by' so I parked and walked and got this shot:

You did a great job in the circumstances.
Keep up the good work
