1.
I just received my X5 and I also fight with Flexcolor 4.8.10 (Mac).
1. I can't find the "export to dng" (scans are all fff and in the thumbnail window)
2. How do I capture most out of the slide using 3F? Does only matter if I select scan 100%? or do I actually have to go to the highest possible ppi?
I want to archive my images in the very best quality possible, but I'm not sure how the 3F really deals with the size.
3. I can not import 3F files into Lightroom 2.6 (Mac) - Edward: is your answer above outdated by now? Or am I just not getting it?

I appreciate your help. Must say I love the scanner but I'm a little disappointed with Hasselblad that it only gives you very outdated information and manuals about the scanner/flexcolor - imagine a car which does not come with an up to date manual... (same price)

  2.
Hi,

I wonder what kind of hi-end scanners are availabe? I have to scan about 5000-10000 images, from 35mm, 4.5x6, 6x7, 6x8, 4x5, up tu 6x17.

I do not really believe in the Nikon 9000 ED which I tested for 35mm. I wonder if anyone has experience with the new hasselblad scanners x1, x5?
I don't know how often I scanned my slides before, but I want to do it once again, best possible and then hopefully never touch the slides again.
I also wonder if it actually makes sense to buy or to give the images out of house (never had good experience with this either).
Hope somebody can give me good advise.
Thanks
3. Hi,

not sure if you gone by now. We have travelled a lot to both Provinces and also spent quite some time there. In case you get close to St. Anthony on the Western Peninsula Newfoundland make sure to go whale watching. it is a great place for Humpback Whales. if you want to stay in that area I highly recommend Tuckamore Lodge, beautiful and affordable Lodge. Take your time in Labrador and if you can make sure to go out to Battle Harbor - it is a awesome place, very mystic and great to photograph.

here are some links which hopefully help you to do more research:
4. Hi,

just to follow up...

We used the Garmin GPSmap 60 Cx and GPSPhotoLinker. It worked fine but also added a lot of extra work every evening. We were on the photoshoot for 2 month. We had almost everyday between 10-20 GB of photos and the geo tagging added alot of hours. First we imported the images, did a backup, renamed them, imported the GPS Data. Opened GPSPhotoLinker, imported photos and GPS data and after this was done we imported into Lightroom.

As mentioned, it worked ok - but it is not the final workflow when on the road, just because when you out for 14 hours shooting you don't want to spend another 3 hours at night till the daily routine is done.

Thanks for all your help - will look into the new products now too.
5. Hi,

I'm with DRR now for over a year. I customized my site as much as possible (which is not a lot anyway - I wish we

could do more customization). This is my site:

    Hicker Travel Stock Photography

We made some sales over the marketplace, but most of them are "pending". Some sales date back over 6 month ago

and we have not seen a penny yet. I heard the same from other photographers. I contacted them many, many times

but it took very long till I got a clear answer (customer has not paid yet). Not very helpful for a stock

photographer which needs the income to survive, fortunately we are doing quite well over all (we have several

agencies) so it does not effect us too, too much right now.

In general I like DRR, but the payments from marketplace is a issue and I have to see over time if this is a one

time thing OR this is common (as I heard from other photographers as well). It is hard to believe for me to hear

from other photographers that they have not received their money, same as us. Does that mean that DRR does not

check their customers before they release the images? Does that mean that DRR is paying very late? I don't

know for sure, but it is a fact that we have at this stage still 3 licenses outstanding, going as far back as Dec

    2007.

If they solve this issue and also give all photographers the same promotion then it would be a good place for

your pictures. Unfortunately at this stage they only promote a handful photographers which are basically the same

as most other agencies promote too. Too bad, there are some outstanding images in the marketplace which would

deserve more promotion - but hey, same old agency game - you just have to know the right person and you are

    promoted.

Bottomline: It think DRR is good, but has to solve the paying and promotion issues.... very soon!

Hope this helps

  6. Hi,

we are producing a new book, travel for 6 month and I need to geotag all my images. The canon

solution is not really an option for this.
I wonder if anyone has found a ok setup to do geotagging with the 1Ds mark 3?

Right now I use a Garmin GPSmap 60 Cx, Bobcat (oh yes, we are working on Macs),

GPSPhotoLinker but with no success. it seems like the timestamps are lost or at least the

photolinker can't link to the images right.
Does anyone has a working solution?

    Appreciate your help

7. Hi,

    thanks for your opinion.

I shoot the first few pics with the M3 and yes they look nice, but I think there is a little

hype out about the noise. It seems to be way better than the M2 but there is still a lot of

    visible noise there.

Gotta do more shooting and testing - just difficult right now as we are on the road for

    almost a year!

    Thanks again!

    Rolf

  8. Hi,

I wonder if anybody has an overview for digital point and shoot cameras?

I'm usually shooting the 1Ds mark 2 (hopefully Mark 3 soon). I would like to have a little point and shoot

    camera which produces high quality.

I would love to shoot in RAW, possible with 10 MP or even more.

I got no idea where to start looking as I heard so much from Hasselblatt to Canon.

Wonder if anyone here has an overview or a recommendation for me?

Price would not be the biggest issue.

I appreciate your opinions and help.

    Thanks

    R

  9. Jon,

I have been to Alaska many times, also to Haines and Homer for the eagles. You can get quite often fairly close to the eagles. What I usually have with me is a 2.8/300 as well as a 100-400, it almost always worked for me.

if you interested you can check some of my pictures here:

Pictures of Alaska and almost all of those pictures are photographed in Alaska: pictures of bald eagles.

    Hope this helps!
00NMjj-39881684.jpg.970413025c44fac83b6087e7fd029058.jpg

  10. I believe more and more in smaller agencies and to make sales ourself. When I get reports showing 0.90$ for a image then I believe that there is something wrong. Good for the agencies, but bad for photographers. I just figuered out that from one sale of one of my agencies I got the total of about 2% of the sale price. Thats how often the sale got shared through all the sub agencies.

I'm quite happy now with my direct sales of stock photography. I make almost all my sales today through my website:

    Nature and travel stock photography.

Otherwise as said, I believe in small stock agencies.

  11. Thanks to all of you! The forum was a great help. We decided to go with a Toyo at the end,

    a 70mm and a 150mm lens.

I want to say that both, Badger Grafics and Midwest were great honest people to deal with.

it was hard to make a decision where to buy - both would deserved it. Final decision was

    made on availability.

Thanks again for your opinions and help
