Anyone know a good way to get photoshop cs2/3 for cheap or even free? I need it
for a class i am taking and there is no way i would be able to afford the full
price or even the half price discount my school gives. Thank you.
Christopher.

Can anyone recommend a good battery powered strobe or something else that would
work as an off camera flash for on location photography? also, though this may
be a fruitless desire, i would like to not COMPLETELY blow my next couple
paychecks on the system. also, what additional 'accessories' would i need? i
am barely getting into model photography and i have not used anything other than
my sb 600 for shoots.

looking into lenses, the 18-70 3.5-4.5 or the 18-200 are at the top of my affordable list right now...the 18-200 might be very interesting for street. anyone here used it for that purpose?
-
18-55 kit lens. and usually the 18-35mm end of that. sometimes a 50mm 1.8 for portraits. i havent used it lately though.
i really want to get a new lens to replace the kit lens. we'll see if the money comes up. :)

Dan: im not sure i would say that haha but thank you.
Michael:thank you also, that is one of the main things i have been working on lately...pushing my photography above most of the average street stuff and actually telling a story or many stories with them.
Orville: i completely understand, im very conservative with the amount of photos i take. which probably has a lot to do with me shooting in RAW haha. its a pain to edit if i take too many. your spot on with your criticism too. the main thing i get from others is that i need to establish stronger focal point and in some cases, get closer! so thank you again for the comments. i really do love when people are critical of my work. thats the only way we grow better right?

'standing and sitting' ouchh it kinda hurts when you put it that way haha. im definitely working on my street photography. your right though, i still have not gotten to that point where the photos are complete magic. there are still a couple internal obstacles that i must overcome. but hopefully im a little closer than when i started. thank you for the comment :)

thank you everyone for your responses. ill keep you updated :)

vin: yep. the only post processing that was done was desaturation. im using the 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 nikon EG. good luck at the parker center, let me know how it goes.
kyle: possibly a little more :) i don't remember if i stopped shooting at 7 or 7:30. the last one was taken on my way home, so it throws the time off a bit haha. the photos are in order of the times they were taken though.
thank you for your kind words. and i cant agree more with the ratings system here. too often photo-shopped (often times not even good attempts at ps) are what dominate the ratings. there are gems at the top as well but the disgust for the bad ones unfortunately are what usually grabs my attention. eh.
Marc: its still amazing to shoot there in early morning (for buildings etc) or late afternoon for the people. wayyyyyy too hot to shoot during the day, but then again the light isnt that great at that time anyway.
Robert: i lovvvvee BW. in fact, i never shot color until i got my digital camera. and i still cannot figure out a decent way to convert to BW. im not very proficient with ps so i dont really even know a good starting point. care to shed some light?

ive been thinking of getting a high quality super wide. so far, the tokina
12-24 looks like my best bet. has anyone used this before or would anyone
recommend a better lens at around the same price rangE?

:)
if the picture is SOLELY of the advertisement without any background whatsoever and your trying to SELL them it is a little more iffy, but if it just advertisements placed within a 'street' photograph posted on the internet then your completely fine.
what a run-on sentence haha.

just have patience and wait for that right moment. they cant be smiling all the time.

haha.

also, thank you for helping out with my problem :)

no, im not even sure what linux is?

I just started shooting RAW. I use the UFraw with gimp and everything works
perfectly until the image is converted to photoshop. The picture shows up fine
in the UFraw screen but once it is opened in gimp, it shows up with TONS of
grain and noise. Anybody know how to fix this, or why all the noise would show
up from no where?

will this lens, the NON d version work with digital cameras such as the d70 d50?
-
thank you for all the info. i guess i am going to have to "revisit" some of the farms, especially this first one. looking back, they do need a lot more attention given to definition of the project as a whole. again, thank you for the criticism, hopefully it will show in the next couple of farms i shoot.
chris.
-
also, i do have pictures identifying the farm. name, location, whether its dairy/prodece etc. i just havent scanned them in yet.
-
these are just the photos from a project ive been working on
documenting the destruction of local farms/dairys. this project was
done over the last couple months and is actually not even finished yet.
this gallery is from the first farm i visited. "hillview farm."
any critiques, good or bad are much appreciated. especially
constructive so i can take thoughts and suggestions into consideration
on the final farms of this project. also, these arent the best scans
so the quality isnt perfect.
thank you very much.
chris.

great responses. i completely agree with you andre. it probably wouldnt generate much 'sale' interest. the galleries around here do cater much more to the "pretty" things. they are much more powerful when together anyways than separate.
going with the other suggestions, i contacted a friend of mine who works with various photo magazines and she is going to try and get some interviews for me. then we can see where to go from there.
thank you again for all the responses.

the cheapest i can find it is around $200 for the stripped version containing only ps cs3. eh.
and no, ps isnt technically a requirement but all our work 'in class' will be done on ps so its going to be a pain in the butt working on on two separate programs. right now i use GIMP, which is a remarkable program even though it can be gotten for free.
