    Golden Eagle

          2

Captive Golden Eagle, photographed a few years ago while I was at my

first NANPA Summit, in Colorado. Returned to this image and applied high

    pass sharpening using smart filter.

    Old Cabin Door

          3

Door on old, neglected cabin in Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio. HDR

image. This photograph was taken three years ago. Sadly the old cabin is

    now completely collapsed.

    Lone Maple Leaf

          4

This is one of my personal favorites. Lone Maple leaf caught in pine branches. Taken

in Red River Gorge on Fuji Velvia, back when I was still using film. Camera was a

Canon 1V with Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens.

  1. Small waterfall at the end of the lower trail through Conkle's Hollow State Nature

Preserve in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Only adjustments made on original raw file were

curves and slight reduction on highlights. The way the light was falling into the gorge

    provided a natural vignette.

  2. Dawn on May 13, 2010 at Ash Cave in Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio. It's been a near

perfect spring here in Ohio. I loved being by myself at such a beautiful location at

sunrise. In this image I wanted to capture both the flow of the water and the ethereal

quality of the early morning light coming through the new growth on the trees.

    Nature's Muppets

          4

Muppets are what I think of when I see this image. I captured this scene on my front

porch, a few years ago. Baby House Finches in a nest that was located in one of my

hanging ferns. I was using a Canon 1D Mark II, 100mm macro and Canon Speedlite,

    detached with chord.

  3. John - you have one the most impressive portfolios I've seen. Incredible work ! I've bookmarked your web site.

Thank you very much for the tip on curves adjustment with my Bridge at Upper Falls HDR shot. I went in and tried it out myself to see if I could replicate what you did. I almost got it.

I think from this point forward I will implement curves adjustment as one of the final steps in my workflow. I was concentrating so much on the HDR technique that I didn't even realize I was losing my contrast.

    Thank you very much !
