1.
I have a NIKON 300mm 2.8 and add a 2x teleconverter to it and have been very happy with it, but it definitely cost a bit of money. It is my hobby lens so it killed me to spend as much as I did for it but couldn't be happier. Here is an example of a coyote I shot with it in yellowstone this last winter. Best of luck!

00XohD-309311584.jpg.8070d9a2c0be87cd376bf7bdedfb3a3d.jpg

 2.
Hi everyone - Sorry I haven't been on here since. Had my heart surgery on Monday and got home last night, so I now just checked my email. Thanks Nadine for your email :)
I shot my entry with a Nikon D700, with my 24-70 2.8 lens. I always shoot the brides and grooms while hugging their parents and got kind of lucky with this one. It was a bright sunny September day but we were in the shade. Not really much else. It was our nanny's wedding so I knew the people a little more, but other than that, a typical Utah wedding :)

 3.
Congratualtions Don! I knew when I saw yours it was definitely a winner. As for you Marcus, I have to tell you that last year I was at WPPI when you gave your presentation. I sat in the front row, crying and could not believe how simply amazing you were. I learned so much from you but more than that left feeling so inspired. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

 4.
Wow! Seriously I just moved and haven't been on photo.net since I posted this. So I was really surprised to come here now and see that my picture had been chosen ;) I took this at a wedding last year and am posting the original shot. I cropped it and converted it to BW. I took this with my 60mm 2.8 macro lens, not a lens baby or tilt shift. I actually took a few of the rings on the invite, but this one jumped out the most to me. In hindsight, I would have much rather of seen the date or the couples name, but then again, the time is a detail not everyone remembers and is also a detail of the day forgotten. :)

Thanks everyone for your nice compliments about my talents. I know I have such a long way to go, but love what I do and hope it's apparent in my work :)

00XUUX-290823584.jpg.4a655ecc84e3dcb598488e2ab1577470.jpg

 5.
Wow! Thanks everyone for your input. William is right, the cat is out of the bag. I tried to keep it in the bag, but I often become friends with my clients long before the actual wedding takes place - for several reasons - one of which is because I can tag them on Facebook in their engagement pictures. So, I had a ton of people asking about my heath on facebook and a lot of people inquiring as to what all the talk was about. As far as scheduling, I have booked out almost three months from the surgery just to be safe, as I would never want to commit to doing something I am unable to do.

Stephen, I definitely like your insight and wish that everyone in this world thought like you. When I did write about it, I mentioned that there really was a huge silver lining and that really I am in tip-top shape in order to have the surgery done. The doctor's tell me that after my surgery, my heart will be conditioned for a marathon because of how hard it has been working all of my life. So, hey maybe I will do just that - start training for marathons...he he he. :)

David, I also agree with you, the wedding season here in Utah is about the same, so it does make it nice because I really haven't had to turn down a lot thus far - along with the fact that people here only book weddings about three months in advance, which also helped because I had anough advance notice and was able to choose my surgery date.

I am just worried that by not telling clients, they may feel jaded that they didn't know about it and feel like I was - in some way- lying to them.

 6.
I am not one to post things very personal on my blog or website, but I did the other night and have gotten some mixed feelings.
I just found out I have a hole in my heart and have to go in for a Robotic ASD Repair in November. I met with a potential client whose wedding would have been three days before my surgery. They ended up not booking me because they felt like my health concerns would interfere with their wedding. I had another bride call me last night and said she was amazed I was willing to share my personal health trials and thoughts and felt more of a connection with me since I posted it and would like for me to do her wedding. So I guess I have a double question here...first, how much is too much to share on your blog? Jasmine Star posts everything personal on her blog and does quite well. The second question is, how much do you tell your clients when it is a health issue?
I feel like some people who were interested in booking me for the spring are second guessing because they think I won't be recovered, when in reality, I will feel better than ever before about 6-8 weeks after my surgery.
I don't know...just looking for some thoughts on it...
