I heard that Canon's Image Stabilization feature doesn't work that well at
short distances, but works best at long distances. In fact, they said that
this is the case for all similar technologies (e.g. Nikon's VR) Is this true?
thanks

I have the following two lens options to buy with my Sony Alpha 100:
- Sony 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens &
- Sony 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Compact Super Telephoto Zoom
OR
- Sony DT 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Aspherical ED High Magnification Zoom Lens
I understand that the 18-200 is more convenient in that you don't have to carry
and change lenses, but is there a benefit in having the other two lenses? Less
distortion perhaps? The price is about the same.
thanks

I am about to go for my first dSLR. After much research, I am leaning towards
the Sony Alpha 100 kit which includes the 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 lens:

I don't plan to buy any more lenses in the near future. I just want an all-
purpose lens that will be able to take decent indoor photos without a flash
and decent outdoor sports photos.
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated, especially if you have the above
configuration.
thanks

Being able to see a list of the latest critiques/comments I received is very
convenient. Is there something similar for the ratings I receive?
thanks

I know a photo can be deleted by its owner, but what happens to the
ratings, critiques and comments that other users have submitted? It
seems that they remain as broken links in the workspaces of the users
who submitted them. Thanks for the feedback.

I just got my Nikon Coolpix 5700. I had a problem with the response
of the shutter release button, which seems to be solved by
disabling "continuous focus". Now the problem I have is that I
cannot get sharp macros. The subject appears to be perfectly focused
in the viewfinder before shutter release, but not so perfect after
shutter release. Perhaps this is not a fault of the camera, but
something that can be fixed with a tripod because of the nature of
macro photography? Thanks.

I just got a new Nikon Coolpix 5700. Like all digital cameras, you
first press the capture button halfway to compose the picture and then
all the way to capture. The problem is that there is a delay from the
moment I fully press the button to the moment the camera responds to
start capturing the image (I am not talking about the time during
which the aperture remains open) I noticed that this delay is really
noticable in darker areas or when the battery is nearly empty. Could
someone please explain why this happens and how I can minimize the
delay?
thanks

Adrian, thanks for your reply.

What does the "Views" counter below each photo really represent? I
have visited several photos with 0 Views but the counter has remained
0. Thanks.
Shutter release button freezes up
in Canon EOS Mount
Posted
Sometimes, when I use my Canon Digital Rebel XTi with a 28-135 USM IS lens, the
shutter release button freezes up, and I have to turn power off/on to
temporarily fix the problem. Has anyone had this problem, or am I doing
something wrong?
thanks
