  1. Sorry about the watermarks and size.

Mass Grave, the one thing about this shoot I remember was the

thousands and thousands of human bones stacked upon eachother with no

end in sight. These were once living people with families, stories

and memories and now they lay here like nameless inert mass.

    Restaurant

World Resources Miami Beach, early bird lunch time. a happening place

when the sun sets, but a nice quiet place during the early parts of

the day. I tried to capture a vintage type look, does it work???

Full Daylight, about 93 degrees, humidity around +85% and hot as

heck. Everyone was in the water except me, the only fool with a

    camera sweating in the heat.

  2. I took this at night during a large wildfire that has entered a

residential neighborhood, some sections of the neighborhood were

still under construction and the flames destroyed hundreds of new

homes. I used a 135mm to sort of compress the details a bit.

I do not think this image deserves a 1/1. I doubt this was a paid studio picture since the equipment used is consumer grade but giving this individual a 1/1 is a poor thing to do since he did actually go out and get a decent shot without using studio equipment and made the effort to find an interesting local/outfit for the shoot. Some people are piss poor individuals.

    Long Day (DPA)

          1

Subways in japan get jammed pack during business hours making

movement difficult. This individual caught my eye for two specific

reasons, a very sullen face and he was the only one with a white coat

amongst the rest of the riders. I decided to raise my camera with the

50mm and press the shutter. No conversations or music are heard just

    men/women quietly awaiting their destination.

  3. Rescued dog by Small Paws. His name is Andrew and he had about 1 hour

left at the pound before execution but he was rescued at the last

minute by Small Paws and his reaction to being held was like a childs

after being rescued from a terrible situation. I tried as best to

capture the emotions of the dog. Do you think this would make a good

image for a rescue poster? I will make this image available to any

rescue organisation who would like one. It would be in a high

resolution color corrected ready to print 16bit TIFF. Just send it to

your Frontier or Noritsu and you can go up to 12x18.

TIP#1 Always use fast primes for these situations, Flash is not an

option since using one would cause undue stress. (Lens used 35mm 1.4L)

This is probably your strongest image, it conveys what I will call the "Modern Urban Woman" Cell phone stuck on the head, cig on hand and the fast paced walk. Good capture.
  4. Large Wall of fire blocks access to the rear of a new development

being built making firefighting very difficult. Nature vs

    Man/Machine.

Why did this occur was simple, a new development was being built on

native forests leaving hundreds of acres of dry kindling surrounded

by new homes being constructed, between the drought,

Offroaders,Construction and other human traffic a collision course

toward disaster was inevetible. The fire was extinguished after

several days of hard work and work eventually moved on.

Lesson #1 from this shoot, always bring your camera at all times, I

missed the most dramatic events due to my stupidity but hopefully

    this is good enough :)
