  1. This is all really great information. I was wondering which lens I should buy because I'll probably just take the free camera and then buys other lens. A friend of mine just bought the digital Canon Rebel, and spend a lil over a grand on it. If I were to buy a digital that would be the caliber I would want. Just don't have the money for that. How do you all feel, is the best way to get into serious photography? Take classes of course... but is that it?
  2. When I look at "Urban snapshots" it makes me think of the struggle, the day to day grind that living in that environment can be like. An image comes to my head of an old woman, sticking her head out the window to her apartment, elbows on the sill. Smoking. Watching the disheveled youngsters playing in the dirt lot next to where she lives. Or a night shot outside of adult film theater, broken up marque. A silohette of a man in a trench coat slithering by. I feel they are more effective at night and in overcast settings. I'm a fan of the silver-gelatin it adds another strange and compeling element to the picture. If done well, to me they're extreamly moving is the point trying to make.
  3. Hello everyone, this is my first post on Photo.net. Well I'm 23, from

San Diego, Ca and I have the photobug. Lately everywhere I go I feel

like I see images that should be captured on film for other people to

see. So to my question, I think that I'd really like the Minolta that

my dad is planning on giving me. That way I can just use my money

towards buying lens. Or I could just use the money to buy a digi cam.

and my price range is only about $350. So thats my dilema, any help

would be great. By the way. Which lens do you all recomend I, a

begining photographer buy for the Minolta... don't know the year, dad

bought it used for $150 and then refurbished it so it's in perfect

    shape.
