  1. Olivier,

I think you've shaped the car beautifully with a relatively simple lighting set up - which is always really hard to do!

I've never done 'beauty' shots of cars myself but here's my impressions for a couple of things that might give it that extra zing -

It feels as though you could do with making a decision whether to use lens flare/aperture ghosting as a deign element or to cut it out all together, at the moment it feels like it's sitting a bit between two chairs.

A more even/textured background might help the car pop out of the image a bit more. At the moment the strong straight lines of the windows are a little bit distracting.

I like the way the light plays on the door handles and that little 'knob' or whatever it is between the driver's door and the front wheel well but I'm not too sure about the reflection off the rear view mirror, seems to break up some of the nice shape.

With a lighting set up like this I'd also consider some diffusion to make the top part of the car glow but that's really a matter of taste : )

    Linda,

I really like what you've done with the sharpening/blurring blending - I think you've gotten the balance just right, I think it works really well with the overall colourscheme and the way you've left the saturation low - it all makes for a very painterly feel!

Very nice work Ketil - makes me home sick as I prepare to celebrate Xmas in 40C downunder : )

If you don't mind, I'm curious to know what ISO / f-stop / shutter speed you used for this picture?
