I am suprised to hear you do not make your living as a photographer. I have viewed photography for 31 years and made my living from it for 23 years. If there is such a thing as master of photography you are certainly it.

With any art form I feel that "anything goes" to make the image. The important basics are here; light and composition. I like the use of the gradient to darken the left and right edges. Moody and beautiful.

Hi Zak,
This is a composition that creates an interesting tension. After reading your critique questions. I think that they could be answered by converting this image to black and white with a touch of contrast. Should make the image a bit more artfull. OR just make the lamp a high contrast B&W.
