1. enable the autobracketing mode under multi-exposure mode
2. enable the burst shooting mode under multi-exposure mode viewfinder
3. on-demand gridlines
4. 100% viewfinder
5. change the viewfinder diopter adjustment with a finely-graded knob/wheel instead of a slider
6. user-adjustable focus fine-tuning for different lenses
7. a quieter shutter/less mirror slap
8. two SD slots
9. HDMI port
10. better eye-piece rubber cover

I would recommend bypassing the 18-55mm kit lens and get a 16-45mm f4 instead and combine that with a 50mm f1.4 or f1.7 or as everyone recommends also the 35mm f2.0.

The Pentax K10d is a good camera - but I would agree with the above suggestion - you already have a good set of Nikon lenses. you won't probably need AF with macro, and unless you are shooting very fast moving objects with the 400mm, you can still shoot as you have done with the F100. You would not probably need AF for the Celestron. You can go with the Nikon D80 - nearly priced similarly with the K10d.

Hi Hin,
Good ideas for bags. If ever you outgrow those bags, these bags are also worth considering:

(site requires quite a bit to maneuver)
I have a Sensitivity V model camera/laptop bag.

Indeed, good for a travel lens too.

make sure your Date Adjust is the same with your World Time or uncheck the World Time feature
it is in the menu - set-up - Date Adjust and World Time

I am guessing (actually hoping) $3,200 for the body and $4,500 with a "kit" lens.

the 80-320 (or similar FA lenses) is a bit noisy when it tries to focus compared to the newer DA50-200 ED. The latter also has full-time manual focusing. if you can wait and have enough budget, i have read here in photo.net that Sigma will release their APO70-200mm f2.8 in Pentax SSM (the newer supersonic something focusing). I am hoping they will release a matching 1.4X/2X teleconverter.

Your welcome Fahed!

Hi Michael,
Tried the A-AS mode but it didn't work. I have three PZ lenses (28-80, 28-105 and 70-200) which did not work with the additional A-AS modes. The power zoom works in P and A mode of the lens. But none of the other features listed in the PZ1-P SLR manual. :-) Oh well...
Thanks for your reply!

Hi Fahed,
Just try this one - maybe it will help. Go to the main menu (press menu) the first menu option scroll down until you see Memory. There is a check box for each setting that the K10D can remember and one of them is the white balance.
Hope that helps!

It's funny that when I consult by Japanese-English Dictionary (The New Anchor - Gakken) there is no mention of bokeh. There is a "bokeru" (verb, formal - "bokemasu") though which means (1) to become senile and (2) out of focus (i.e. "boketeiru"). There is no h in Japanese but there is a ha. But it's a good marketing ploy though :-)

The power zoom lens does function with the K10D. Just push/pull the ring beside the zoom scale.
I was asking about the P-A-AS button on the lens itself. What are these for?
-
I can't find any manuals for these power zoom lenses - but i was wondering how
to use the P-A-AS modes, I use it on a K10D.
Thank for any help.

you can check www.mapcamera.com it is in Shinjuku, Tokyo - they have a sizeable lens and camera collection new and used. hope that helps. but better if you can browse through their store

Hi Renato,
I was also surprised. This was with the K10D, just to check did you dial in the focal length for shake reduction (SR)? I can hear the SR humming while the shot was taken. I`ll try it again - maybe just a lucky shot.

Hi there, my suggestion for the wide either a Pentax 12-24mmf4 or 16-45mmf4 (or a cheap Tokina 19-35mm) and for the telephoto a used Pentax 80-320mm or a used Tokina 80-200 f2.8 with a 2X teleconverter - should fit the bill...it's my ideal travel set-up, maybe you can have space for a 50mm f1.4 also for lowlight shooting. Enjoy and don't forget to bring extra batteries and cards (or a very small laptop with DVD-writer)!
