  1. There are actually a few options. I have serviced a MX at Schnherrs Foto, and LP-Foto also do a good job. Sergel Foto, currently located near Kungsholms kyrka, did a good job on two lenses. I can recommend any of the above.

Pentax in Sweden should also be considered, they are located in Uppsala but any photo store should be able to send the camera to them. They have a very good reputation since they do the service themselves, at least on film cameras.

  2. Hi, I recently purchased an old Sprintscan 4000 together with a

Tekram DC 315U SCSI card and installed on my XP PC. Installation went

fine, I used the latest versions of all drivers for the SCSI card

together with Polacolor Insight 5.5.1 and Adaptecs latest ASPI layer.

Now the question: I loaded the scanner with one slide and initiated a

scan by pressing "Preview". The scanner started moving, the software

indicated "Calibrating scanner" until everything stopped and the

computer froze completely. Polaroids support tells me that the

scanner might need service (I have also tried to clean the scanner

with the small brush provided by Polaroid).

So, I suspected software problems and downloaded the Vuescan demo.

With Vuescan I manage to make both a preview scan and a complete scan

without problems. But, when I select "Calibrate" from Vuescan nothing

happens. Nothing at all, no reaction from the scanner, no warning, no

error message, no consequence in the software. However, the PC didn't

freeze either so I could go on working.

Should I just forget about Polacolor Insight and by Vuescan and be

happy? Or is something wrong with the scanners calibration? What is

really done during calibration and what do I miss if I can't use it?

    Thankful for all help!

  3. Hi, I have a bunch of Neopan 400 films exposed at ISO200, and a

bottle of Amaloco AM74 developer I'd like to use. The data sheet for

the film doesn't mention this developer, and the developer data sheet

doesn't mention any dev. time for ISO 200 exposure, nor does the

massive dev chart. Anybody has a suggestion?

Some developers are recommended for ISO 200 exposures and some are

not. Could there be any reason to warn for this particular

combination? Otherwise I guess I could simply decrease developing by

a minute or so... Thankful for any input!
