  1. This is pretty interesting idea, I will probably get the external power pack designed for the 580EX. It holds 8 AA batteries, reduces recylcle down to 1.5 sec and cost $125. It comes with a nice leather carry case and belt attachment. However, if I had specs on building something that would only cost say $75.00 for same results I would buy them. It's just electricity no big deal, figure it out and sell it..
  2. I would agree with thte last statement in this forum or buying Pentax Glass. I am no professional, but even in my ameteur experience I am learning the most important items I have in making great shots are my leneses and my lights. I use some canon lenses but my best lenses are my Sigma EX lenses which work on either Canon or Nikon. I believe most of your picture quality comes from your lenses not the camera. So what you realy want to do is decide which lenses you are going to invest in. Cano generally has faster focus motors and really long zooms, Nikon probably has a better flash system with good wideabngle lenses. Or get a Digital Pentax system.
  3. I just purchased my first Sigma lens the 70-200 2.8 EX and I love it. If I were to buy a Macro lens it would be hard to choose between a Sigma 2.8 or faster EX or a Canon L-series or prime.

I don't know if I woule use Tamaron I have heard they are pretty cheap, but Tokina also seems to have some nice stuff.

In a head to head comparrison between the Sigma and Canon L the Sigma was extremely close....

  4. You don't need to get Win98, just go to Bootdisk.com and download the Windows 98 bootdisk /startup disk. It uses and imaging type program to re-create a Win98 bootdisk. Boot your computer with this disk run Fdisk or Fdisk /mbr to manually delete and recreate a new partition on disk. Be carefull if you see a did that says non-dos this will be you C-drive which is formatted NTFS. The Win98 disk will only allow you to formate FAT or FAT32 make sure to choose FAT32. Windows XP should be able to read this disk fine as FAT32. If this doesn't work mae sure you don't have a conflicting IRQ and that your cables are o.k. Otherwise, the disk maybe bad.
  5. I don't know if the Sigman 70-210 f2.8 is a different lens than the Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX HSM which I just purchased. But the Sigma lens I just received blew me away with how sharp it is. I compared shots from my Canon 50 1.8 to the Sigma 70-200 both at F4 and F8 and can not tell a difference. I even compared the Canon 70-200L side by side Sigma and the difference was so slight I determined it was not worth the price diference. I was originally going for the Canon 70-200 F4L but got a better deal at same price and a F2.8.<div>00ArIN-21478984.thumb.jpg.a2a70a94dd2cac93d0ba672dccfe3a3d.jpg</div>
