    Autumn leaves

...breaking the first 'rule' of photography -- shooting into the sun...

I'm not sure if this needs more contrast, or less. I do like the

abstract-ness of it. I printed it on Oriental Seagull #3 and toned

    it in KRST 1:20.

    Any profound thoughts?

    Tom,

I can't see anything wrong with it, except as someone else noted there's no nude woman in the photo.

It's says 'this is bob (or whomever)' It's a decent photo that captures 'guy on a boat on a sunny day...' Nothing wrong with that. In fact most of the portraits on photo.net don't even manage to capture that much.

Definately doesn't deserve a 3/3. Don't let the turkeys get you down.

  1. It reminds me of Stieglitz's picture of the horse carriage in a snow storm. The story goes that he stood out in a blizzard for three hours waiting for that shot to happen. I hope you didn't have to wait quite that long.

This is one of those pictures that makes me remember why I love black and white photography.

the framing is perfect. it's as if the hands need some room to flow and you've given them that room - I know that sounds abstract but it works.

vertical would have done nothing for this photo.

I like it. I'm going to be out there next week. Here's hopping it's clear and dry cause I'm taking 20+ rolls of verichrome pan to shoot the mountains.
  2. kind of a sad commentary that we have to tag a picture of a seven year old as 'nude'.

it's a beautiful picture. it just glows. i can see the Sally Mann influence. there's an article written by her daughter Jesse in the current issue of Apature that's a must read.

I agree with Anders. The pose seems awkward, it looks forced. Her hands don't seem to belong where they are. It seems odd somehow.

Are they yours? I have an 18 month old son and I can appreciate how difficult it is to get boys to stand still long enough to focus.
