Thank you for your replies. I just got the camera a couple of days ago. I got it for under $400.00. I went to the Samsung site to check for updates. They had one that will allow the use of SD cards larger than 1GB (which seems small to began with), if I read the directions correctly on the Samsung site, I download the firmware update on an SD card, and then download the update from the SD card to the camera. Is this correct? It is nice to be using a Pentax again. Having a lot of fun using my old lenses and flashes. I have been shooting in Raw and the images look great. The AF500FTZ flash works fine as a TTL flash. Actually, I think the results are as accurate as my Olympus E-1 and FL-50 combination. Maybe more consistent. I just wish the AF illuminate assist light on the AF500FTZ worked with the Samsung GX-1s. Thanks again.

Hello. I have a chance to purchase a Samsung GX-1S at a very good price. I have
a few Pentax lenses and a couple of decent Pentax flashes, the AF280T and
AF500FTZ. I would like to use the GX-1S as a back up for weddings. Does anyone
know if the GX-1S is compatible with the AF500FTZ or AF280T? Thank you.

Hello. In Lightroom 1.1, is it possible to permanently disable the sharpening
and noise reduction? Well maybe not permanently, but until I decide to turn
them on. Now I am turning them off for each photograph I process. Thank you.

Hello. Lee Bacsik I have a Sunpak 544 that I used for weddings with my film cameras. It was always very accurate. When I use it with my E-1, I tend to get over exposed images. Can you give me any tips or suggestions for using the 544 with the E-1? Thank you.

Hello. I am seriously considering purchasing a Minolta Maxxum 7D w/
28-75mm f/2.8 from Adorama. I have done some research on this camera
and most speak very favorable about the camera. Including "official"
reviews. Most complaints are regarding back- focus problems. As I am
thinking of using this camera for weddings, it has me concerned. Can
anyone with experience with this camera comment on this issue? Any
insight to this camera will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello. I have read a lot of the posts here regarding the
Lightsphere. It is my understanding that the Lightsphere is made for
digital cameras. Does anyone use the Lightsphere with film cameras?
Thanks.

Hello. I am looking to a printer that will print up to 13" X 19". I
will be using it mainly for B&W. I was in OfficeMax and they have an
HP 9800 for $299.00. I can get $25.00 off the price plus I have a
bunch of gift certificates. This makes the purchase of the printer
very tempting. I have done some research with varied results. So,is
there any major downside to this printer? To those that use this
printer, how are the results? Any info, tips and warnings will be
much appreciated. Thank you.

Alan, good question (I have been know to jump to conclusions before thinking things through). I have used the the same f stop and tried using the same shutter speed. I have used auto and manual modes. Thanks.

Hello. I have found that I get different meter readings from using
FA,A, and M lenses on my PZ-1P camera. I even tried metering off a
gray card that filled the entire screen with the different lenses. If
I use the FA 50/1.4 then switch to an A or M lens, the A and M lens
usually indicates underexposure of 1/2 to 1 stop compared to the FA
50/1.4. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you.

Hello. I am slowly getting into the digital process. Thank goodness
for photo.net. The question I have is: As far as scanners go, current
and any trends for the future, consumer and commercial scanners, would
it be better now to shoot with slide or print film? I shoot a lot of
landscape
and cityscape scenes. Thank you.

Thank you everyone for the answers. I think I will look for a Photoshop 5.5 book and try to learn how to use Photoshop.

Hello. I am just beginning to get into digital photography. When I
have my film developed, I have the images put on a CD. I was given an
older computer with Photoshop 5.5 on it. I know that this is an older
version of Photoshop but will it be sufficient enough for now as I
start to learn post digital capture "darkroom" applications? Or should
I purchase something like Photoshop Elements 3? Thank you.

Hello. Has anyone replaced the foam on their MX that the mirror goes
up against? Has anyone done this themselves? On my old (aren't they
all?) MX the foam has turned to black gunk. I would like to try to
replace the foam myself. Any advise? Thank you.

Hello. I may buy a *istD. I am aware that, in practical use, focal
lengths are different on film cameras and digital cameras. I believe
it has to do with sensor size. I do not care much for technical
details. What I need to know is: When I look through the viewfinder
of the *istD, regardless of what focal length lens I have on it, is
what I see in the viewfinder going to be the image I will capture?
Also, is there a comparison chart that shows the focal length of
lenses when they are used on a digital camera(*istD) and a film
camera? Example, a 24mm lens on a film camera would be the equivalent
of what on the *istD. Thank you.

Hello. First, thank you for all the answers to the PZ-1p question
that I asked. I am going to keep it. I am looking for a reasonably
priced 24mm lens. Most likley I will be purchasing a used one. Auto
or manual focus will be fine. I am looking for the best optical
quality for the buck. Preferably an f2 or 2.8 lens. Any suggestions?
As always, thanks.

Thank you everyone for your responses.I have decided to keep the PZ-1p. As Douglas pointed out, the prices that film cameras are selling for are not very good. As I use my cameras a lot, my other camera is the LX (I would never part with that camera), the PZ-1p is not in LN condition. Thanks again.

Hello. I am thinking of selling my PZ-1p and purchasing an MZ-S. I
really like the PZ-1p but I find it bulky. I like the MZ-S in my
hands much more. I have had it for about 3 years. I have the Pentax
extended warranty and will send the camera in for a clean and lube
before I sell it. I will also be selling the grip with it. So, can
anyone suggest what I should ask for it? Thanks.

Hello. Can anyone recommend a Macro Lens (50mm & 100mm)that is
excellent when used as a general lens also? Thanks.

I have the Pentax Macro M-100/4 lens. Would there be a noticable
improvement with regards to distances of 15'-infinity if I were using
a Pentax non Macro M 100/2.8 or M-100/2 ? I am most concerned with
sharpness. Thanks!

Hello. Has anyone used a Kiev Prismfinder on a Mamiya 330? I see that
they are for sale from a place called Baier Fototechnik. Before I
order one, I would like some input from actual users of this prism
with the Mamiya 330. Thank you.

Hello. After doing the research, I believe the GW670III is the medium
format camera that would best serve my needs (and wallet). My only
concerns are the comments regarding the shutter. Someone said that
the shutter does not "seem" accurate. I have also read that another
person had to replace the shutter after approximately 500 exposures.
Can any users of this camera comment on this? Also any comments on
the general durability of this camera would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Sets & Actions in CS3- How Many Images Can Be Run in a Batch?
in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing
Posted
Hello. I have processed about 850 DNG images in Lightroom. I am going to export
them in the highest quality JPEGs. I want to Batch process them in an Action
Set-Noiseware Pro and Nik Sharpener Pro. The most I have processed before was
about 150. Do you think I should do all 850 at once, or split the processing
into smaller amounts? I am exporting them into JPEGs because I am not sure my
computer can handle processing 850 TIFF files. My computer is a PC, Pentium 4,
3.Hz, I GB RAM, 500 GB external HD. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.
