I have one of those in my truck ... 3K Battery. I like the photograph - vivid colors, models exhibiting a proper attitude, nice lighting - well done
  2.
SHOOT AWAY! I have been lugging bulky gear around Southeast Asia for 6 years and never regretted it for a moment. I carry my gear in a nondescript backpack. I have never had a problem or been concerned about having a problem anywhere that I have visited in Thailand, Lao, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia. My suggestion would be to involve your children in your photography - having them take shots with point and shoots, teaching them about photography, help carrying some of the gear, holding your off camera flash etc. Minimize your impact on others by learning to take your photos quicker. Share with others why you fnd something interesting and share the results immediately with them.

  3.
Does PSE6 have masking for layers? If not, that would be a good reason to upgrade. I am confident that there are many other items that have been added over 7 revisions that would justify upgrading.

  4.
Another case of a poorly written contract creating confusion - more work for lawyers which could have been avoided for less coast by involving them before signing the document. Like the Fram Oil Filter commercials used to say "You can pay me now, or pay me later"

  5.
For me I would focus on the Jasper area entirely and not worry about planning on any photographs on the road between Edmonton and Jasper.
In Jasper, I recommend 1. Patricia Lake/Pyramid Lake, 2. Maligne Canyon/Medicine Lake/Maligne Lake

  6.
Since your wife wants outdoor portraits, did you ask her if she had some expectations or locations? What about her parents since they live there?

  7.
A contract is an agreement between two parties. If you don't agree, you don't have to sign. If you don't agree, you can also propose changes to the contract that would allow you to sign it. The other party can agree with your proposals or find someone who will agree to the contract as written. Just be aware that there are consequences to the actions that we all take. For many years I was involved with awarding contracts ...very few times were exceptions to our contract accepted or appreciated.

    Peru

There is a 94 page PDF file titled "Essential Guide for Tourists Visiting Peru" issued by the Ministry of Tourism available on the Internet. Very detailed information down to how many cards or rolls of film for your one camera that you are allowed to bring into the country without being taxed or posting a "reimbursable" deposit for the items. Scanning through it I was so thankful that my two visits were prior to these regulations being enacted or enforced. New rules have been enacted for Machu Piccchu too - I won't be going back.

  9.
Life and for many, photography, is a series of trade-offs and compromises. I get the impression that you enjoy and are accustomed to traveling light. That would favor not bringing the 70-200 f4. Your trip appears to be to a metropolitan area, i.e, - that would also favor not bringing the 70-200 lens and favors bring the 18-35mm. Bringing the 70-200mm might give you some advantage for taking portraits (sniping). However with an 85mm lens which is considered to be a portrait lens, you most likely would get better portraits by just walking up closer to your subjects. I recently returned from 6 days in Cambodia, I brought a 28-70mm f2.8, a 80-200mm, and a 50mm f1.8 lens. I never took out the 50 mm and I estimate that 98% of my shots, including many portraits were with the 28-70mm lens. A wider lens like the 18-35 would have been more useful than the 80-200 lens. I would take the 18-35 and the 85 lens for urban shooting.

Such a lovely and alluring woman. Wonderful lighting and composition reminds me of classical Hollywood portraits. Very nicely done.
  11. That is what makes classics so classic. They excel no matter the age, medium, or media. You have honored the classics, this model, and yourself with this work. Very well done ... as usual.
  12. Wonderful lighting and overall ambiance. The model has a very natural pose and an intriguing expression. Great job.
  13.
Why don't you just get a hold of Blurb and discuss the situation with them as well as showing them why you are not satisfied. They use different printing companies depending upon your location. They may have a problem with one of their vendors. No matter the case, Blurb can do a great deal more to satisfy you with this problem than we can on this website. Personally I have had no issues with my three books with Blurb although they were all in color.

  14.
My bucket list would actually be places that I would like to go back to. It is nice to photograph places the first time but it is wonderful to return with greater understanding and improved skills.
As for giving inspiration - Grand Palace, Bangkok; Machu Pichuu, Peru; Angkor Wat, Cambodia; Phuket Vegetarian Festival, Thailand; Hmong New Years, Luang Prabang, Laos: Foz Igaucu, Brasil, Jasper, Alberta

  15.
I have never been involved in litigation regarding photography but I have been involved in construction contract litigation. My advice to you is to first try to resolve this issue directly with the studio all the while implying that if necessary you will get a lawyer if necessary. There is no reason for both of you to support your local lawyers if possible. There is a problem. They did wrong. You have your rights. It really is up to you and the studio to come to an agreement or for them to stop. Based upon my experience as well as observing a construction claims trial that I was not involved - both parties would have been better served without the lawyers getting involved - it only requires that people be reasonable with each other. Use the savings in lawyer's fees to help come to an agreement.

  16.
You stand where you stood the day the photos were taken. The studio has used your family photo for commercial purposes without your consent or authorization. The fact that the photo is of a minor makes their violation even more grievous. The problem for them and you has nothing to do with money. The problem for them is that they are using the photo of a minor without a release from the child's guardians. The studio needs to stop immediately and enter into serious negotiations with you and your partner that ends up with a signed model release before they use that photo for commercial purposes.

  17.
If you are not planning on bouncing light off of the ceiling, the height of your light stands is dictated by height of your subjects (roughly 6 feet) and how you intend to use your lights i.e. above the subject with the light angled down at a 45 degree angle. Stands that are 10 tom12 feet tall should work fine. The fact that the ceilings are 26 feet tall means that unlike many locations the height of the ceiling will not limit or restrict your lighting setup. As Howard M rightfully points out stands may not be the best option for a party. Have you considered using speedlights off the camera - either on a hand held boom by an assistant, on a camera bracket or held in your hand?

  18.
You may have a bigger issue with selling photos that may have been products of work for hire. Is the newspaper going to allow you to sell and profit from photos that they hired you to take but did not publish? If the photos of a public event are used for editorial purposes by the magazine, there should not be a need for model releases. The need for model releases will actually be made by the end user based upon their intended use of the photographs - the magazine. My opinion - I am not a lawyer.
