  1. <p>Thanks for info. It's been hard for me to part with the FD stuff, but then I still have my old IBM PS1 computer.<br>

Just wondering if anyone has compared Ed's adapters to the original Canon FD-EOS adapter? <br>

I have one of Ed's adapters (300mm 2.8) but have not converted it yet. I also have the Canon adapter and have been more than satisfied with my long telephoto lenses that are compatible when they were used on my 10D or 5D. Even the 200mm 2.8 FD lens is extremely sharp. <br>

I've also used an Olympus 4/3 with less than satisfactory results.</p>

  2. Thanks Ellis,

I am able to select each of these in the Metadata Browser, however I can't see how to delete that attribute. I am ultimately trying to work on a desktop and a laptop with 4 external drvies and my Folders, Collections and Keywords are so screwed up,,,I'm constantly having to relocate files, folders and drives that I'm considering deleting all of the databases and starting from scratch.

  3. I know it's out there somewhere but I've been unable to find it yet,...So how

do I go about editing my IPTC metadata in Lightroom 1.0? Early on, I seem to

have applied Golden Gate Bridge (Location), San Francisco (City), CA (State)

to over 17,000 photos in a Library. It should have been less than 150. Now,

I am a little timid about trying to change this. Can someone please enlighten

me as to how I should go about un-applying this edit? Thanks, Joseph

  4. I appreciate the help /support. What I've been doing for most of the weekend is installed the new 500GB SATA drive and made three partitions. The first was 100GB with OS, Photoshop CS, Windows swap file (4069 Max) and minimum apps. The second partition is 120GB and as of now is being used solely for scratch disk. The third is 256GB and is unused at this point. Images that I will work with will be copied to the third partition, stored externally and deleted.

It is definitely better now, but when I tried to "save to web" (with a 4 window preview) a 243MB tiff file it froze up. Oh yeah, and I think I've lost thousands of keywords during the reinstallation of CS.

So, thanks again for the help. It seems like I will ultimately have to give up more money fro the RAID config, but hopefully this will get me thru for a while.

  5. Thanks Jeff. I am stretched pretty thin right now and just need to get back to working some files i have promised. I'm trying to concentrate on existing hardware now. I'm sure that later I'll want to go to a RAID setup but I'm not ready for that now. I just back up with external HD and DVDs.

Steve,,, That would be XP, XP swap file, PS CS and CS scratch disk on one unpartitioned HD? I've read that you don't want windows swap file competing with PS scratch disk, but if the HD is large enough, would it mattter?

  6. Lauren, I too searched and researched until I finally decided on a Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400II. I was very happy with the quality and hundreds of scans later, still am. There are several i put in my portfolio (http://www.photo.net/photo/3865453&size=lg). Then Konica Minolta announced they were getting out of the business, six months after I paid over 500.00 USD for it. I hope as long as the bulb in it is good it may last a long time. Depending on your needs, you may be able to pick one of these up for a low price on ebay. Good luck.
  7. I am member who first started playing around with PS CS a little over a year

ago. Still a long way to go, but I am serious about learning PS. The problems

have recently been computer related issues which are more aggravating than the

steep learning curve of the software. I have read many threads/articles

(including this site) and a very helpful ?knowledge base? from adobe

    (http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/318243.html) about optimizing Windows XP

for PS CS but it seems to be different for each individual. There are also

contradictions which makes this somewhat confusing, so?, Here is my

    situation.

    Hardware:

Dell 400SC computer with Intel 875 chipset

    P IV 3.2 Ghz dual processor w/ 800Mhz FSB

2GB RAM installed (upgradeable to 4GB)

Matrox millenium P750 AGP video card running

    Dual monitors

I am now shooting RAW files with a 12.8 mp Canon EOS 5D and have scanned a lot

of old negative film. Many files (scanned) are 200MB plus. CS runs very slow

while working on these files and sometimes shuts down. In addition to an

existing 40GB EIDE hard drive that I have formatted and reinstalled XP Pro, I

plan to install only XP pro and PS CS with minimum apps and services on a new

    WD Caviar 500GB SATA 7200RPM drive with 16MB cache/300MB/s. Again, I intend

that this newly added hard drive will be a bootable hd for image processing

only. I have read mucho about separate partitions for XP, PS, scratch disk,

data, etc..., but have also read another MAC article

which suggests that if operating from one physical hard drive, that one should

leave that disk unpartitioned and let PS decide where the scratch disk info

should go. I have two slower EIDE drives installed and external (firewire and

USB 2.0) drives that I could utilize as well. I would like to get this as

right as I can this time so I can get back to work soon. Any advice will be

    appreciated.

    Thanks,

  8. Thanks for the Breeze link Mark. I will look closer at it. The reason for linking to PS is that I am more comfortable with it than DPP and I'm not sure that I even need it (DPP). I don't think there is anyway to refresh CS filebrowser without rebooting the program and that gets to be painfully slow. Shoot, reboot, adjust, shoot, reboot, etc... I would like to put the camera on a tripod, take a shot, preview the image and edit as required. I don't know how or what..., just wondering what might be out there.
  9. After recently upgrading from the 10D to the 5D, I am exploring the features of

shooting remotely with the 5D and a PC. I've been able to connect OK to the

computer thru EOS Utilities and can review images in Digital Photo Pro. I am

wondering how, if it is possible, in EOS Utilities / Preferences, to add a link

to PS CS/CS2? Any help or suggestions (about this topic or remote shooting in

general) from anyone who uses this functionality would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Joseph

  10. Thanks Mark. Exactly why I asked. I have already looked at that manual. According to Steve at T90.com "replacing the eyepiece involves removing the SPD and this will disturb its position and therefore throw off the metering." I think I'll wait and get a few estimates. T90.com and CRJ in Atlanta.
  11. Help please. I have dropped my T90 and cracked the eyepiece. I have

another T90 I can salvage the eyepiece from, but before I tear into

the parts camera, can anyone tell me of any procedures that might

minimize any damage to either camera? It seems like it should be

simple-sitting right at the top. Thanks for any help. Marc
