1.
Thanks Graig,
I do have a second Eumig (P8 phonomatic novo) standing here which has variable speed. Only the lamp is missing. I just ordered a new one and will try out the variable speed option. That should do the trick!

  2.
I have set up a handycam XR155E to record the projected inages of a super 8 film projector (eumig mark 610 D).
It seems to go fine but for one thing. The recorded image seems to flicker a bit, most noticable in overexposed areas. To correct this I switched the projection speed from 18 to 16 frames/sec. Much better, but not perfect.
I think I should set a different speed for the videocamera as well. I studied the manual but I can not find a way to do that.
Does anybody has a tip for me to correct this (other then have the images scanned professionally.

  3.
I crashed my computer and got a new one. The new one has windows 7, and nobody told me that many 'older' applications are incompatible with this os.
I have a coolscan 5000 and scanned a lot of my negatives in the past. Fortunately I had a backup of all these NEF files on a separate disk. I also made backups on DVD's.
I installed capture NX (first version, no problem while installing). I installed photoshop elements 4 (problems but it did run eventually). I did NOT install Nikon scan 4 at first, and I couldn't open the nikon coolscan nef files in capture nx! Then, after installing (not compatible!) Nikon Scan 4 I was able to open the NEF files in Capture NX.
So I tried one of the DVD's. While opening a NEF file from the DVD Capture NX says it cannot load the file? After that files from the hard drive have the same problem.
I thought I was reasonably safe with my extra hard drive and DVD backups. But it seems all work from the past is lost.
I don't understand whats'going on??

  4. Great! Only one suggestion: my internet connection is reasonably fast, still your pictures take a few secs to come up. I saved one of the pictures and noticed that you saved them with 844pixels/inch. For internet use 72 pixels/inch is enough and you can still have 800 or so width. The photographs will look the same, are less easily printable, and come up very quickly.
  5. I know this might not be a proper subject for this Leica forum, but

since many of you use Nikon scanners I will post the question here...

I use a Nikon Coolscan 5000. When I batch scan Black and White

negatives I can switch off digital ICE, but it switches on

automatically after the first negative is done. Hence, batch scanning

seems impossible. Is it possible to switch this ICE off permanently?

  6. Do Kodak of Fuji make tungsten balanced negative? I must delve into their website for this. I will visit B&W website! Thanks!

I am used to shoot 100 / 400 ASA color negative and scan to NEF RAW. My experience is that daylight balanced film can not be corrected sufficiently after scanning. Colors will always be off. I already realized the 2 stop correction, so I am not really sure what to do. The color slide option is worth investigating as well.

  7. I would like to use a 80A color-balancing filter on my Summilux M

50mm 1.4 (not asph). It seems to be a problem to get for example a

Tiffen filter of the appropriate size (screw-in). Does any of you use

such a filter (or do you 'photoshop' the color balance; does not seem

the right way to do it... ;-) )

    Thanxs!!
