I just followed Nikon's instruction and the files are on my D70s. But the Firmware area does not have an update option. Any suggestions?

This may not count but I use a Vivitar 28-80 for years on film and it did some good work until it self distructed. I got the kit lens with my D70 and I like it alot. As a backup and quick macro I got an other Vivitar 28-80.
It came in handy when the kit lens had to go in the shop. I did 4 asignments and while I would have liked to have the wide end. No one noticed. Simple design. A good lens. less than $100 CND

I just got my lens back from Nikon Canada. Its zoom was stuck and
could not go past 24mm.
I am impressed with the whole experience.
They estimated 2 weeks and it was 2 weeks.
you know how the front part of the lens giggles on many as stated on
this site a couple of times, Now mine dose not giggle.
There was some dust, inbetween the front elements. I could never get
at them to clean them and I figured that it would not effect quality.
Well they are gone.
A very professional job.

I will be getting a lot of exposure from this job so the pro bono is a good thing.
I will try the umbrella as well as the ziplock.

This weekend I am photographing a Muscular Dystrophy march pro bono
but it looks like rain, I am using D70's.
I am thinking of adapting some baggies with elastics.
Suggestions?
Thanks

I probably forgot this and the SB 800 manual is the worst so perhaps
you can help. the flash zoom is stuck in xM mode. I have to use it
manually. I went to the setup menu and turned zoom on and still it is
unchanged. Any advice?

D70 battery
in Nikon
I have 2 EN-EL3 bateries that are 18 months old and 1 EN-EL3a that is
8 month old.
All seem to charge well. How long do they last?

I am probably going to buy a I-ttl flash soon and have to chose
between the SB600 or 800.
I would like to know if anyone has both and can compare them for me.
(I saw the previous thread http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-
msg?msg_id=009Uzo)
My questions:
What is the stop difference in the two?
How about recycling on TTL?

I have a new shot for my jobs. Thanks

This is not a bad thing. I usually know when my flash that covers 35 mm will vignet with my 28 or even my 24. It serves to highlight, literally, the centre of the frame. It can be nice. I like what it did to your shot.

Reading through the answers here has helped. I would have asked etc but I want to knwo what experience others had.

I just shot a wedding and have delivered about 300 shots with a 28-80 3.5-4.5 zoom on my f50 with a EM with a 50 1.8 as a back up. Since shots are outside with fill flash and flashed indoors I have no lens seed problems. I use the 50 for low light.
Some might call it amaturish stuff but I do good work. I am planning to use my Nikkormat with a 35 f2 and a 85 1.8 along with the F50 and the zoom. I love those 1970 lenses.
I have a 24mm 2.8 but i have decided to be satisfied with the 28mm on the zoom just because it lightens the load.
