The 18-70 is a great lens considering how versitile. Sounds like the 18-200 is as well.

I am not worried bout the preflashes but about the delay. I used the comander mode on the 70 to trip the 800 and it is slow. I assume that the 800 would send the same flashes to the 600 and it would respond taking too long bofore exposure.

thanks to all. ery usefull.
Just wondering if the 800 could sync with my V 283 through the pc plug.

I am thinking of this setup for my santa shoot to get rid of shadows.
Anyone know if there is a wire that goes from the 800 to fire the 600.
I do not want to work wireless. Too much shutter delay with all those message
flashes.
I now work with a sc29 cord to to the 800. works fast.

I formated 32 it took a long time and no luck.
I am now fomating 16 and will try again. Still takes a long time for the computer to do.

Tried formating in the camera but it reads -E- so it does not see the card.

I use a 2 GB pq1 card in my D70s and it works very well. Tried the same card in
my D70 and it shows -E-?
What gives?

The camera just started to sound like the mirror was firing twice for each shot
and an err message shows in the viewfinder and top display. I tried removing the
battery, 2 button reset and the reset button on the bottom.
Camera was not hit or wet.
Good thing I had my d70 backup to finish the job.
Any ideas. I think I will take it into Nikon Canada.

I like doing the weddings but hate selling them. Working out of my home, I do
not have an extensive album selection and I was thinking of taking some off the
price and telling brides where they can buy albums. Some pro shops are now
selling retail.
Anyone opperate like this?

Anthony, You are right. It is probably the 511px size. The origional looks better.

Just did a test shoot with the 1970 lens on my D70. Manual, of course. Had the F
stop ring shaved down so as to not hit the max F stop lever.
I think the Bokeh is perfect. but that is just my opinion. It is still solid,
sharp and renders a portriat beautifully.
I think I will start using it again.
There is one for $150 CND on ebay but I have seen it for 1/2 that.

I use a 2 gig in one body and a 1 gig in the other. I pack a 1 gig and a couple of 256's in case.
But I am reluctant to change cards and since I have 900+ Jpgs potential in the camera, I have never needed to.
I have bent a pin changing cf cards so I do not like to do it if I can get away with it.

Photoshop can usually deal with this.

I turned this off on my 70 because I found that I set it accidently often. I used the exposure lock to change the exposure if I need to.

I have tried but find that the lighting is too varriable in any event. What I do is view the shots continually and adjust the wb up or down. Shooting jpg. it seems to work well. then PS helps.

You cannot get the 70 to be the primary or fill flash. When it commands it just sends info to the 800 through the flashes but it does not add to the exposure at all. I think that the D200 built in flash does.
I have yet to use this setup because of the way I shoot. Dialing up the command mode on the 70 and the slave mode on the 800 takes too long and when you finally have all set up there is too much of a time lag between hitting the button and the exposure. The flashes take too much time to talk to eachother.
What I use is a SC29 cord for off camera shots. works as if the flash were on the hot shoe. Range is limited by the cord but i don't need the flash far away.

Mine giggled until I had to put it into Nikon Canada for a major unrelated repair. they fixed and cleaned it and now there is no movement of the front piece.

This is a great lens for the camera although I usually use the 18-70.
I took the filter off the 50mm because its front element is recessed so much I do not think it needs the protection and to avoid flair.
I have a filter on the zoom because the glass is almost sticking out of the lens.

I have the 18-70 and it is excellent for what I do, events, weddings. I have a Vivitar 28-80 as a backup and handheld macro. the 50 1.8 cannot be beat for quality and price. Great for portraits too.

Just be sure that you have only one file on the card at a time or the camera will not update.

Thanks everyone. The instruction "Do not copy both files to the card at the same time." was what I needed. The update option appeared and A and B are bothe 2.00
Errol

So the D70s firmware should be 1.0?
My d70 shows A is 1.01 and B at 2.00. I remember updating it when they came out. I guess I just updated B.
Still, I do not have the option on either to update when USB is in either setting.

Bag for 70-200, D200

I use a lens pouch on my belt when I take a second lens. I bought one and it was too small for my 70-300 so I found a waterbottle holder at a camping store at less than half the price. Not good in rain but it works the same.
