"Should a Photographer Conceal or Reveal Political Leanings in Her/His Work?"
Of course not. If his political leanings aren't obvious they aren't relevant. If they are obvious it's a political cartoon.

Non-rechargeable alkaline batteries won't last long at all.
Non-rechargeable Lithium batteries have the longest life but are expensive.
Rechargeable AA Nickel Metal Hydride, NiMH, are the best option, in my opinion.
Get the highest capacity you can and a good charger and you're in business.
In a user review for A80s on another forum one user said he got 120 shots on a set of NiMH. Of course, that varies depending on how much you use the flash and the LCD.

Sorry, I saw no horizontal lines on that picture. Just a girl playing a piano. I copied the picture and enlarged it and didn't see any lines.

My clip-on lens caps, from a variety of manufacturers, clip on to the lens or filters the same. I've had no problem. I have one screw-on lens cap and it screws on the lens or filter the same.

Digital has a more narrow dynamic range than film. Exposure is more critical. If your exposure is weighted towards either extreme you get either blown highlights or black shadows. I think it's better to use your spot metering and lock on a spot that is near 18% gray if you can find one. I've just been trying this system for a week or so but it seems to be working. Of course, that led me to be critical of my cameras exposure lock.

I've had my C5050Z for over a year and I've not only never had that happen but I've never heard of it. I'd try taking out the batteries and leaving it overnight. That should reset everything. I'd also email Olympus and see what they say.

I have a new, my first, DSLR and I've been using the spot meter in the camera, metering on something I estimate to be near 18% gray, and then locking the metering. So far, I've been happier with the results than I was using the programmed metering.

You might take a look at the link above. It explains, very briefly, why you need circular.
