Good range of tones and a neat composition, aesthetically. Also, it captures the pace of life in Banaras pretty neat... these guys whiling away their time staring at the moored boats. Wonder if taking a lower angle to capture the expanse of the ganga (to futher reinforce there wasn't much more they were looking at) and reduce some of the foreground would have been a better idea.

I was strolling at Har-ki-pauri, the bathing ghats at the North
Indian holy town of Hardwar, when a man was swept off his feet while
bathing in the river. The fast current almost swept him away, but he
managed to grab a chain at the very last moment. It was almost dusk
and the only camera I had was loaded with a 100 film, so most of my
shots were wasted. Here are a few that weren't, this is the second
of the series. Comments welcome, especially let me know which do you
think is the best in the series.

It was almost midday when I saw these two old men chatting by the
street. It's not one of my favorite shots, but some people said the
harsh contrast made it more interesting. What do you think?

Daniel, I like the crop. Thanks for the suggestion. This was my first upload here and the response overshot my expectations. Must admit I've really not taken many shots that I like myself... this was more of being at the right place at the right time (though I dont mind the high ratings esp on originality :D).

These chairs are used to carry aged pilgrims to the top of the hill
at Shravanabelagola (Karnataka, India). I caught one of the carriers
taking a nap while waiting for clients. I would have preferred more
of the graffiti to fill the right side of the frame, but then it was
a candid shot. And it was in the shade, so there wasn't much of
contrast either. Comments solicited.
