I'm switching from Windows to Mac. I'm going to have to give up CS2 as part of the swap. So, the question becomes: Will PS Elements feel familiar to me, thus making an easier transition from CS2 ? Or should I consider Corel instead?
Thanks, folks.

UPDATE
The card reader works just fine. (And, NX is, it turns out, not needed. Good thing, too, as I hate it. I really hate it, the way God hates Detroit.)

Thanks, folks.

Thanks for the responses. I've tried both of our computers. One is Windows 7, the other XP Pro. I'd try another cable if I had one. Maybe I'll just try a card reader. If that solves it, I can live with that.

Thanks,

The subject line tells the story..I got my wife an S6300 (small, cute), and it refuses to download to NX2. It captures images, but When I tell the NX software to search for a camera, it comes up with nothing. This is the case with two different computers (including the one that has the NX2 that came with the camera.) Perhaps significant: According to the camera's manual, plugging the camera in to the computer will turn the camera on. This doesn't happen.
So: Would there be any point in getting a card reader and trying that? Or should I just send it back (It's a Cameta Camera refurb.)

Thanks, folks.

I've been shooting with my right hand up for so long that I can't remember ever deciding to do it that way. (I do plan to get a vertical grip if Nikon ever gets around to building a D7000 for me.)

Thanks! It works! It's easy to turn the TTL off, and the flash now works with the 55mm Micro. This is so cool. Sorry, Nikon, but it looks like I won't be buying that 40mm Micro after all...

Thanks, I'll read the manual and see if I can do that. (Manual exposure is the only way the body will work at all with this lens.)

Thanks guys.

Joe, I actually have a 55mm F3.5 micro MF. Problem is, the body doesn't allow the flash to be used. In fact, the shutter will not even work if the flash is turned on (or if a flash gun is attached.) I don't mind having the AE not work, but the lack of flash is a deal-killer. I'm not sure if this is a characteristic of the D70, or if mine is just weird.

PS The body is a D70.

Hi folks.
I'm currently getting good results with shooting bugs with a 50mm Nikon D lens and a Kenko extention ring set. I've been tempted by the new 40mm Micro. What differences could I expect? I'm mostly using manual focus, but when the auto will work with my set-up, the percentage of keepers goes up. Would the 40mm autofocus better at these short distances?
I suspect there are other issues I'm not considering. Any thoughts?

I fly out of there, but I have the perfect alibi: I'm a Nikon guy.

Spider ID?

Thanks...Badumna looks a lot like it. Mine is less brownish, but other than that, I think this is it, or pretty close.
-

I'm still happily shooting my D70. The worst thing about it is the low-light / high ISO noise issue. Other than that....I still love it. I use a 18-200 VR, and for closeups of spiders and stuff, a 50mm F1.8 with Kenko extension rings. I'll probably shoot it until it breaks, but that could be a while....
