  1. i would agree with you Stephen when we were talking cars here. But since hardly anyone is capable of servicing their shutters, especially a large one like the X-pan's, it seems like a nice idea to have some indication about how many times the shutter was fired.

    Rene.

  2. I read in a magazine that Hasselblad is discontinueing the X-pan due

to new EU regulations that prohibits the use of lead that is used for

circuitboards. Redesigning the circuitboards with lead-free contacts

would be to expensive with X-pan sales already declining. Can anybody

    confirm this?

  3. I tried Autofocus in Bussum, but they ran all out of ilford films. Combi Strik here in Hilversum lost all interest in B/W and are only selling digital and videocams these days(they even seem to have lost they're Leica dealership). Phototec.de looks rather well stocked but is pricey(?). I just hope that Ilford will start supplying products to photoshops soon.

  4. After buying the last 2 available rolls of HP5+ in the area that i

live in, I am starting to wonder if Ilford is still alife. Every

photoshop-keeper is telling me they ordered fresh stock , but nobody

has received any since last september. I am starting to get nervous

now. Has anyone in the Netherlands, or elsewhere, the same experience?

Or is there a particular problem with the dutch import agency?

  5. I handled several examples of this lens including my own and they all seem to have a little "bump" when you pass the 24 to 28mm area. But apart from that, it should be smooth. I hope they are able to fix it for you!
  6. I use Ilford Ilfosol-S to develop my FP4 and HP5 films. But since it

is very hard to get at the moment, i would like to try something that

works in much the same way as Ilfosol. I like to use a fluid

developer so i don`t want to use ID11 or D76. Suggestions anyone?

  7. Yes, this is normal. Since your lens is an autofocus lens there is no need for it to stay focussed when you change your composition. The camera will focus it for you after you used the zoomring. A lens for a (pro) videocamera does need to stay in focus when you zoom in or out. Therefore such a lens is much heavier and a lot more expensive. It also has to be "tuned" to every camera you put it on to make sure its socalled backfocus is correct.

  8. I think we should be glad that Zeiss is willing to commit itself to a new film-based RF camera. By doing so, it supports the use of film and thereby prolongs the time film will be available for all Leica, Voigtlander, Contax etc. users... I handled camera and some lenses at Photokina and it looked all fine to me. The Zeiss man mentioned a price between 600 and 1000 Euro for the 25 to 50mm lens range. Lets wait for the tests.
  9. My photoshopowner is telling me he cannot order Ilford articles from the Ilford company in Lyon anymore, which is where he has to order it for retail in the Netherlands. Anybody having the same experience? He was talking about everything, so films, papers and chemicals.
