  1. You are truly amazing and one-of-a-kind. This could very well be my favorite image of yours so far (and that, my friend, covers a lot of ground). Everything here is just right...the relection (perfectly composed and framed), the slick, black asphalt (glistening) and the shadowy pant legs in the background (moody & mysterious). To paraphrase something I read in a review a while back, "the only thing missing is the frame and a hook, so I can hang it on my wall." Gad, even the title is perfect! Put me on the mailing list. Regards, Doug.
  2. I just love the sense of scale on this one. Being from Montana (a little known fact), I am quite familiar with Yellowstone Park, albeit from the perspective of a little boy. And, this is just how I remember it, bigger and more amazing that anything anyone could think up in their little imaginations. Good stuff.

    Music by the river

I just returned from Paris and one of the things that really stood out was the commitment of the street musicians. They would have standup basses, drumb kits, horn sections and just about anything short of a Hammond organ. One particularly ambitious group had all of the above and a 9 person choir. All of this and it's cold outside...nothing will deter the European street musician. Your fine capture brought all of those memories back. Thanks.

Boy, you can really pick out photos taken on those larger format cameras...the detail jumps right out of the screen. As the photographer, you did pretty darned well, too. Lovely composition and tremendous perspective. Well done.

Beautiful portrait work. The pose is especially unique and different from the conventional fashion portrait. Well done. P.S. What happened to the Gypsy portrait? I though it made a great bookend to this photograph and it inspired me to create a fairly funny monologue on my own gypsy experience. Unfortunately, by the time I had finished the piece, the photo was gone.

This has the feeling of a Dutch still life with its golden glow and pristine detail. Well done. The poor Zorki (or FED?) looks like it has seen better days.
  3. Boy, if you don't get to a Jayme Hall photograph early you end up sitting in the back of the room...or in this case the bottom of the critique page. So, from here I will say my few words and hope they don't get buried under the Shag Rag Rug. There is a luminescence to this photograph that I like a whole bunch. I can't figure out if its something to do with exposure or diffusion or if it's just inherent in the frayed textures of the pastel rags, but it's there and it's very nice. Good work, from one of your many admirers, Doug.

I can't believe I have not commented on this portrait...old age I guess. Anyway, it is absolutely beautiful, evocative, haunting, inviting, and as Gerry H. said "I've run out of superlatives." Well done. Oh yeah, you rock and you're the man.
  4. I feel like I'm going to photography school whenever I view one of your shots. Man, the lessons you're teaching anyone who pays attention are priceless. As in, trip to Shanghai, $1500.00, a Frederic Pascual photograph, priceless.
