Guys,
Great advice, thank you so much! But let's say I throw slide overboard (since indeed digital projection is much more convenient) and I take along print film. I am perfectly comfortable digitizing my negatives in stead of projecting slides the old fashion way. From what I read here and on several other threads, keeping in mind my current set of lenses I could look at a combination of Fuji Superia Reala 100 + Fuji NPH 400 or Kodak Elite Color 200 + 400 for example. Between the two choices, I gathered that Kodak delivers the most saturated colors, but would also have the most contrast, which would lead to loosing detail in shadows. Or am I completely wrong and should stand in the corner being ashamed.
Just to be on the same page, this is the Kodak film I'm referring to:

B&H and Japan all sound nice, but I live in the Netherlands ;) I'll be sure to post when I've
returned. BTW, does anyone have some results of their own displayed somewhere? I'd love
to learn!

Dan,
I've heard that about Kodachrome. However, the only lab in the neighbourhood that
processes it is in Switserland or France even :) I have indeed a 50mm..and will most likely
load that one with 100ISO, but I'm affraid it's going to be too contrasty in 'sunny 16'
situations.
The Kodachrome have intruiged me though..I'd love to give the 64 a try..if I can find it.
Should I also have a look at the 200 version?

Edward,
The reason I'd like to shoot slide is that maybe in the future I'd like to see the shots back
on a projector. But it's not a must. However, I understood that the Elite 200 that Kodak
makes is just as good as the 100 version, even a bit more saturated but with the same fine
grain. Is that correct? If yes, what's the reason to shoot 100 anyways? I have concidered
normal film, but I see no need to use reala or even nph since I'm only going to print one or
two on professional paper, not the entire film. Could I therefor use plain Superia or even
Kodak films?

I have no experience whatsoever with Agfa film. However, I do have to say that it's my intention to blow up a shot or two to put on the wall. Should I leave the 400 speed films alone completely? Wouldn't I loose much detail in shadows if I only use 100 or 200 film?

Hello everyone,
I'm planning a trip to Thailand in a month, with visits to Bangkok
and Koh Samui. I have set my mind on taking along some slide film,
since I've had decent experiences with it visiting other countries
where there's plenty of sun and contrasting colours. Someone advised
me to bring 200ISO and 400ISO slide, since I'll be using one zoom
lens (1:4-5.6) and one prime lens (1:1.8), both on seperate bodies.
So currently my choice would resp. be Elite Chrome 400 and 200, but
does anyone have experience shooting slide in Thailand? If so, what
(low-cost) film would you suggest? My prefference goes out to rich
colours, to enhance the contrasty colours already available in real
life there, but not too rich, since I'm planning to shoot landscape
and street (people) as well. Many thanks in advance!

The opinions on the Clack are very diverse :) I have ordered one, for as little as 10 Euro's. Claudia, I would indeed be interested in using the Clack as a pinhole camera. However, I haven't tried to build one before. Would you have any guidelines for me on how to convert this particular camera? The pictures on your blog are very interesting, chapeau!

I was fortunate enough to get a Rollei 35 (made in Germany) for free just the other day.
Mint condition, just no lenscap. Just shot the first roll but haven't seen any results yet so
I'm quite excited.

I'm thinking of diving into the 6x9 adventure, but I'm not prepared to spend lots of money
on a camera yet. First I'd like to see what I actually can do with this format, and my eye fell
on this old camera. Is it worth spending a few bucks on or should I leave it and look for
alternatives? Thank you in advance,

Preston,
I'm actually going to Princes Town, near San Fernando. Were you there on a holiday? I travel to Trinidad almost every year, but this is the first time I'm going to spend some serious time shooting. Chaguanas is interesting, and so is Maracas, but I'm not sure yet where to go. Plenty possibilities though!

Lovely picture by the way, never been there though. I was actually thinking of packing some slide, but not Velvia. I was thinking Sensia or 100EBX. Lots cheaper than Velvia, and regarding to popphoto.com not a bad choice for those circumstances, not?

Actually I'm not having the film printed as yet. I first scan the whole lot to see what's worth printing and what not. I have heard some good stories on the Frontier paper, so I'll give that a try at my Fuji dealer here. Although I'm not sure if that paper has the same name here in Europe.. I am not carrying a polariser however, I like the pictures to be as clean as possible ;)

Hello everyone,
I'm going on a little holiday to Trinidad & Tobago in two weeks, and
I'm having trouble finding the right film for my needs. I'm set to do
the following when I'm there:
1. Make a series of cityscapes
2. Shoot some scenery on beaches
3. Make a series of streetlife portraits/scenes
Now, usually it's very sunny on the island, but sometimes the skies
can be a little overcast. I have the following film in mind, could
someone advise me or recommend something else?
-Fuji Superia X-tra 400 or Kodak Professional Elite 400 (for overcast
conditions, though pulled to 320)
-Fuji Superia Reala 100 (for more natural colors in street scenes)
-Kodak Color Gold 100 (for bold and rich colors on the beach)
Many thanks in advance!
PS: you might wonder, 'Where is the slide film?' I don't trust myself
too much with slide, since the exposure latitude with most films
isn't as wide as I'd like it to be. But I could be wrong!

Hi Everybody,
I have a small question: can anyone tell me if there are lens hoods
(you know those extensions to prevent the sun from flaring) available
for the following lenses: EF 28-90 1:4-5.6 (silver) and EF 75-300
1:4-5.6 III? I've been looking all over, but I haven't seen any list
of lenses compatible with certain hoods, so I don't know if I need an
ET-54, ES-65... Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Michel

Interesting, I've been trying to set something like this up myself, but I'm not at all happy with the Canon software provided. Controls are very limited. I do use OSX, can you recommend a good piece of (free) software? Thanks in advance,
Michel
