Decent books that were part of my early photo education. 960's and 1970's vintage I think.

Isn't part of the reason for the apparently oversize body the fact that they had to use a full size 35mm shutter assembly?
I've been imagining that they'll have a proper 4/3 system shutter soon and then the body size will drop.
-
-
I'm pretty sure the seemingly excessive size of the E1 body is beacause they didn't get a new 4/3 sized shutter made for it. I think it is using a full sized 35mm shutter still. Hopefully there will be a new correctly sized shutter for the next pro body they release (E3 I believe it is to be called), and the size will be more in keeping with what you'd expect.

What about the rangefinders?
One, M, S, S2, SP, S3 et al.

It seems to be a quite positive review. The price is a shock though.

Maybe I'm missing something, but mine are in cases as I bought them. I just put the cases in my camera bag. Maybe if you are carrying more than a few this might be too bulky, is that what you meant?

Photos I've seen from Tektronics dye subs are beautiful, like a glossy magazine cover.

I think the Konica Minolta version of this type of camera might be better than the Canon. Have a look at the Z3 before you make a decision. Similarly the Panasonics rate very well with users FZ20 for example. It just got a glowing review at dpreview.

Use the Channel mixer in PS, set it to Monochrome and use full Red, and reduce Blue and Green to taste, then adjust Constant. Normally you want the three colours values to add up to 100.

"All but the Sony use the same power cord..."
How amusingly typical :-)

"Mike Elek , oct 30, 2004; 04:15 p.m.
The sensors in digital P&S cameras have hit their upper limit. I notice that camera makers are now stepping back to 7MP units, possibly because of the noise in the 8MP cameras. However, I think they were beginning to push the boundaries at 5."
Different sensor size. The Sony 2/3 sensor is the one in the 8MP cameras, the new crop of 7MP cameras are using a smaller 1 1/8" sensor.

Are they like the Ford Moostang?

Before I gave up film based photography I had pretty much standardised on HP5 developed in Rodinal as my high speed film. It gave excellent tones with a real glow to the prints.

The Minolta moving sensor system takes focal length info from the lens.
It can move up to 1 cm on the x and y axis.
-
There has been speculation that the sensor movement could be used to capture multiple images that would be stitched in-camera to for a single full-frame image.
The sensor moves 1cm on each axis which encompasses the area of a full 35mm frame with the APS size sensor.

My mistake. I was thinking they claimed 6MP form a 3MP sensor. Apparently it is 12MP from a 6MP sensor. I'd say a working photographer using it successfully for weddings is a damn good advertisement for the cameras usefullness. As I said earlier, they doo seem a lot of camera for the money.
-
The Fuji is really a 3MP sensor and the image is interpolated to 6Mp in camera. This seems to have a deleterious effect on image quality. The camera does seem to offer a lot of features, etc for the money though.

That "On being a photographer" is a good one.

I turned off all the sounds except the focus confimation beep which I have at the lowest volume seting on my DiMAGE A2. The rest of the sounds were quite superfluous to photo taking.

My old HP 6200C had it really bad. Main concentration of the fog was over the power supply area. This is why I believe that it is the electronic components that give out the vapour that results in fogging the glass. I sent it back to HP twide, who did a very poor job of cleaning it. Then I cleaned it myself and it was much better.

I'm suprised to see a curve like that. I'd always seen it written that the sensors have a linear response to light levels.

Ricoh's canadian site doesn't even mention cameras at all.
Who knows why companies cripple their own marketing like this?
Old Praktika? ID help required
in Classic Manual Film Cameras
Posted
I found an old camera which has the building drawing type logo on the
back, embossed in the leatherette covering. I cannot find any info on
it online. Pics can be seen at:
http://photobucket.com/albums/v101/pw-pics/old-camera/
It has a non-instant return mirror, strange shutter speed selctor
arrangement, bottom mounted film advance lever, 42mm screw mount Carl
Zeiss Jena Tessar 2.8/50 lens, non-couple selenium exposure meter,
cloth focal plane shutter.
Can anyone tell me the model and perhaps point to an online source of
info and perhaps a manual?
