  1. I have been reading on previous posts about this subject, but still

have not understood it very well.

My images look very pixeled (with many artifacts) after sharpening

and changing brightness and cropping. I am using Large and fine

format. I've heard that RAW images would not have this problem.

However, what I don't understand is, if you still have to convert the

files, or extract the JPG file out of it, then you will get the same

artifacts. Then, what would be the benefict out of shoting in Raw?

    Thanks for your answers!

  2. Thanks DN for your advice. It is very helpful for me. I will consider the 3021 (3221)Bogen.

Is it good to get the Arca Swiss B1 for this tripod? wherecan I buy it? BH doesn't seem to have it :)

    Thanks again!

  3. Hi,

I need to get a tripod /tripod head and would appreciate your advice.

My cameras are EOS 3 and EOS 10D

The heaviest lens I own is a 400mm f/5.6 and the purpose is Nature

    Photography.

I've heard Gitzo is more expensive, so I would go with a Bogen.

What head is a good one? Do I need some other accesories with the

    tripod?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

  4. Thank you so very much to all of you for the helpful advise. It is interesting to hear that in Canon cameras, the speed of the card doesn't make much difference. Maybe Canon will improve this feature for future models. Good to know I can get the cheapest one without affecting the performance of the camera in a significant way. :)

    Thnaks again!!

  5. Hi,

I have always used San Disk flash cards for my 10D.

I was looking for a 512 MB Lexar at BH and found there are lots of

kinds. They have 40x, 10x, XD, SD, 16X etc... Which one I should buy?

I need it to make nature photography. I would appreciate some advice

and please let me know what is best:) Thanks for your help!!!!

  6. Hi, I would like to know a tip for when shooting landscapes and want

to have the flowers closer to the camera in focus as well as the

faraway mountains. Thanks for your help! The attached photo is an

example of what I would like to get.

  7. Thank you all for your helpful advice and suggestions. Thank you Raymond for the lovely photo :)

Do you think I will be able to see sea otters in Homer? I would love to see them!!

  8. Hi,

I am planning a trip to Hallo Bay, Alaska in September. I have a

couple of questions. The first one is in regards to the film.

I am concern about carrying the film ( negative and slide film)all

the way from Colombia ,South America, and going through x-rays more

than 5 times in the airports, before arriving.

I will arrive to Homer and will stay there for a few hours before

taking the transportation to Hallo Bay. Do you know if there is any

specialized store in Homer where I can get the Velvia , Provia, Reala

films? Also, in my way back , can I find a good process lab there

where I can develop my films?

My second question, is if you have any suggestion on the place I

should stay after Hallo Bay. I have a couple days ,would just want to

make nature photography and don't know if Homer is the best place to

stay for these one or two extra days. Would you recomend going

somewhere else? Or just staying in Homer?

    Thanks for your help!!!

photograph the bears in Katmai in mid- september.

Also, do you think I will be ok with a 300mm 4L + 1.4 extender?

Thanks in advance for your help!
