A fine image and great expression. The exaggerated size of the hands works well here, adding to the boldness of the image. His eyes are playful and mysterious all at once.My condolences to your loss. -David

Jan, this is a fine portrait. The pose is perfect, brass and sexy. The lighting is spot on, with a nice touch of an accent light in the hair to add depth on the dark side. The crop is just right for the three-quarter pose. Nicely done. -David :)

A definite winner in the "Unusual" category. The angle, the harsh light, the contrast, the pose ... perfect in all regards. Well done. -David :)

Jan, this is a fantastic portrait. Very touching, and of course, very well done technically. The B/W is the perfect treatment for an image like this.Great lighting and shadow. -David :)

Michael, this is a great shot. Very "1984" (even though it's 2009) ... but you get the idea. It looks like some futuristic place, given the extreme wide angle and depth to the image. The B/W toning is perfect here. Excellent work. -David :)

A great image. The angle and crop are very dynamic, drawing you in and keeping you there. Great tones and light. Well done! -David :)
  1. A terrific portrait. While some have suggested the background colour may not have been the best choice, that's debatable. Another colour would draw the face forward away from the background, true, but this colour also complements the model. It's a purely subjective choice, and neither is incorrect. Both can be pleasing, and in this case, it is a pleasing colour. -David :)
