  1. I have had an R800 which uses the same inks and print head as the R1800 for over a year.

Like others here, somtimes I print 20 pictures a day and sometimes go a few weeks not using

the printr at all. I have never had to clean the heads. You must have a problem. I spoke to

someone a couple of days ago using an R1800 with third party inks who has had the

clogging problem. Are you using Epson ink only?

  2. Thanks for the input. I downloaded the current Adobe DNG converter and ACR 2.4. This gives

me enough to work with for now, and is very fast, expecially compared to Capture. My plan

will be to update to CS2 sometime later this year.

  3. I just got a D200 and am really looking forward to using it a lot. I want to play around with

raw images and installed the trial version of capture 4.4.1 on my Powerbook. I like the

control it gives, but it is extremely slow. I am probably underpowered in the computer. I

recently took a job in southern CA while my home is in NC, so for now I am limited to using

the Powerbook most of the time.

Any suggestions on speeding up the processing. My first shots are compressed NEF, would

uncompressed process faster? I have Photoshop CS, so the ACR available for that won't

support the D200. I'm trying to get by with what I have for the time being.

Hear is my first shot outside with the camera using the 50f/1.4D.

    Thanks for any input,

    Robert

  4. I am printing with an Epson R800 from Photoshop CS using Mac OS X 10.4. I print a lot of

4x6 borderless prints using the Firewire Borderless Printer driver from Epson.

I have a problem with the prints being cropped on all sides somewhere in the printing

process. From what I see in Photoshop after cropping to 4"x6" and resampling to 300 ppi, I

am losing close to 1/4" off of each edge in the actual prints. This makes it difficult to make

an acurate crop. I have tried checking the "Scale to Fit Paper Size" box in the Paper Handling

page of the Epson print window, but still get the same outcome.

    Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

  5. Your lens must be seated against the glass, preferably with a rubber hood, especially if you

are using a flash. Otherwise you will have nothing but glare. If you use a rubber hood and a

resonably powerful flash, you can get great shots. I have done a lot of these.

  6. The seller positioned the lens in the phote on a way that conceals what would have

indicated that it is not a D type lens. May or may not have been intentional. Other than in

some fill flash applications, in won't mean anything. You do have a reason, though, to go

back to the seller on this one. The product was definately not what it was represented to

    be, however minor.

  7. I am holding the AF Nikkor lens you are refering to in my hand, and to the right of the

distance window it has 1:1.4D under the 50mm designation. If your lens does not have the

D after 1.4, it is probably not a D lens.
