<p>I must agree with Paul. I live in the UK 17 miles from the Ilford factory. My local dealer charges £4 (~ $6) for a 36exp roll. America (B+H) is about 3500 miles from the factory and you can buy it for $2 a roll (+ our 'VAT' gives the equivalent of $2.40)!<br>
Ilford haven't even made the twin packs available here. They've produced some 3 for 2 packs available at a very small number of outlets (cheapest I can find delivered for 3 rolls = £10.48 gives the equivalent of $5.10 per roll). Ilford obviously don't care much for the home market.<br>
Ironically I can buy Fuji Neopan 400 for £3.50 a roll (delivered!) that has travelled 6000 miles from their factory.<br>
Shame on you Ilford.</p>

<p>I decided to ask Metz what it is and here is their reply:</p>
<p > </p>
<p >The mentioned flash unit mecablitz 32 CT-7 is additionally equipped with a power off function. If the flash unit isn't released the flash unit will be switched off after 10 minutes by this circuit. This saves the battery power. </p>
<p > </p>
<p >However, the afore-mentioned function can be switched off. For this the small white switch is destined. If the switch is set at "10" the power off function works. If the switch is set at "0" the power off function doesn’t work and the flash unit also works till the batteries are empty respectively the flash unit is switched off by the main switch.</p>
<p > </p>
<p > </p>
<p >So, many thanks Pete for your ideas and a big thanks to Roland Laemmermann at Metz for giving us the answer.<br /></p>
-
<p>Thanks Pete, but not that switch. This one is inside the SCA receiving area itself, unlabelled except for its two positions, 0 and 10 and is very small.</p>

<p>I've just acquired a Metz 32 CT-7 flashgun and was wondering if someone might help me with a question:<br>
What is the very small white switch for that is in the SCA (hotshoe) receiver area? It has two positions: 0 and 10. I cant find the manual anywhere online.<br>
Many thanks.</p>

<p>Have a look at : <a href="http://www.twid.de/x700/">http://www.twid.de/x700/</a><br>
Half way down the page = x300 info.<br>
The capacitor solders on to a flexible circuit board which requires a reasonably steady hand.<br>
Worked OK for me.</p>

<p>Hi Anders,<br>
I suffered with Epsons clogging - there's nothing more frustrating than wasting large quantities of expensive ink trying to get out a decent A4 print. I persevered because at the time I believed that Epsons gave the best print quality. Then I purchased a Canon Pixma (ip4500). I was so impressed I bought my son and daughter one too (to replace their Epsons)! Instant relief. No more head cloggs (ever). Print quality at least as good (if not better). Cheap replacement inks (third party chipped work beautifully). I cant recommend the Pixmas enough.</p>

<p>Sorry about the 'sold' link John.<br>
Maybe you could consider the BW-55b as a stand-in? Originally intended for the 24/28mm. Mifsuds have one for a tenner.<br>
As you say, the 55a is a rare beast.</p>

<p>Bill, I do know that one of the differences between the <strong>40</strong>MZ3 and <strong>40</strong>MZ3i is the i's ability to do E-TTL flash on the Canon system with a suitable SCA 3000 adapter. Maybe this is the difference between the 32 CT3 and CT3i?</p>

<p> I don't know about London but this gentleman, who worked at The Studio Workshop, is just up the M11 and is one of the finest Rollei repairers in the UK:<br>

Yes, I rang them about half an hour ago.

All Sony flashguns now gone....
-
Have you eliminated a head clog using the nozzle check utility?
-
This site has some info - in German. Run it through Babelfish.
-
Have you tried looking on Dyxum.com?
If they havent got the answers already there then I'm sure that someone will be able to help you.

I thought that those Sony Alpha 100 owners who are waiting for a firmware
update would be interested in this reply that I got from Sony UK support today.
I was hoping that they might do something about the noise issues above 400iso
or at least release v1.04, but this looks not to be. As I commented on Dyxum,
this attitude has totally put me off considering an Alpha 700, good that its
noise levels may be, if Sony are to be so dismissive of their coustomers
concerns.
Dear Mr Wheeldon Thank you for your recent response.
With regards to this I can confirm that there are currently no plans for a new
firmware upgrade to be released for this model. Firmware upgrades are usually
only produced and released in response to any problems or inherent faults that
may develop with a unit. If you have any problems with your camera, I would
recommend you have the unit checked by one of our qualified engineers.
If you require any further assistance then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely
Adam Callow For and on behalf of Sony United Kingdom Limited

Hello Raghav, I cant speak for the Tamrons that you've mentioned, but I went from my Canon kit lens to a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro. Huge improvement. Have a look at..

Sounds as though it needs lining up with the aid of a collimator. You could make one and have a go yourself... but I'd say that this person is your man: Mr. Brian Mickleboro, 6 Fairway Bishop's Stortford Herts, CM23 5LT e-mail: bjmick@aol.com Phone 01279 755862 Formerly of The Studio Workshop, London. Mr. Mickleboro is factory trained and has 30-40 years of experience in servicing Rollei cameras.

Sigma 17-70 f2.8/4.5 DC Macro. Very noticeable improvement over the Sony kit lens. It will only work with the Alpha though, not your other Minolta film bodies.

...and that the name "Sonnar" is derived from the German word "sonne", meaning sun.
Have a look in Wikipedia.
-
I believe that the Tessar name was derived from the greek word τέσσερα meaning 'four'.
