  1. From speaking to Sherry Krauter she assured me she can adjust the mechanical shutter to be well within one-third of a stop which should be fine for slide film as far as everything I was ever taught or led to believe. I have shot slide film a lot with a M4-P Leica that Sherry adjusted and I have not seen any evidence that it isn't up to the job. I know dozens of people in the LHSA who shoot slide film with Leicas older than mine, and plus I've been shooting slide film with other non-automatic cameras since I was a kid and the only bad exposures were the ones I goofed on myself.
  2. John I like the LHSA Hammertone too, and I'm an LHSA member and would like to have one. I only wish that I could think of $800 or $900 as "a little more dough (than for a standard MP)" but I can't. So I had to settle for a regular MP which was a huge extravagance itself. I did get the rewind accessory winder and I can give my own opinion of it. It's made very nice and the tip doesn't stick up in the air like some of the other types which could catch on the strap or clothes. It does make rewinding faster but I got the feeling there's strain on the shaft that doesn't happen with my M4-P. And also I can see where if you don't pull up on the tip when rewinding you could accidentally let the knob get pushed down far enough so the rewinder could scrape across the top of the body. I took mine off and don't use it currently, I'm not really ever in that much hurry to get another film into the camera I guess. Too bad though it made an obvious dent in the knob where the screw dug into it.
  3. Hi. Here is a picture of how I fixed my Leica straps so they don't rub the finish. The one on top is from my M4P its an older kind of strap. You can't do that with the new strap because the plastic slider doesn't come off. The bottom one is from my new black MP I just used pliobond to glue a piece of soft leather to just the inside of the slider. You almost can't see it from outside. Hope this helps someone. Well now that I have my scanner working I will upload some pictures when I have time. Thanks. Ben.<div>007qzi-17320984.jpg.a2c65af52ab6765d5f70c7666280aae1.jpg</div>
  4. I've been out of town for the last week and I am now staying with

someone who has a computer I can sign on with, so I wanted to take

this opportunity to say thank you to the nice group of guys from the

So Florida getogether. It was nice meeting all of you an I look

forward to seeing you again, and also perhaps at an LHSA convention

    in the future.

In addition to my slightly ratty M4-P and an even rattier M4 which

both work great thanks to Sherry, I bought myself a birthday present

of a black MP demonstration model which thankfully has one little

tiny bright spot on the film throw lever so I don't have to worry

about getting the first scar on it! My wife also bought me a

birthday present, a scanner, so I am looking forward to posting some

of my photos on the forum as soon as I get home, find the time to get

it hooked up and figure out how to use it (so it might be a while!).

I hope you guys take it easy on me, I'm no Steiglitz! Thanks again

    to the Florida group.

  5. Really? Small world. I'm semi-retired from the dental lab business, still keep my hand in it on a small scale. I know about a two dozen likkewise who stay in Florida at least part of the year and all of them are avid photo buffs in fact four beside myself are Leica guys too. I'm looking forward to this meeting if the weather isn't so terrible that I can't drive over.
  6. One of my buddies told me about photonet just this morning, so I logged on to his computer and checked it out and lo and behold what do I find but not only a Leica group but also people here in South Florida! I haven't seen anybody with a Leica here before in all the years I've been coming down. I happen to be wintering down here and I'm a Leica guy from wayback. Would be nice to meet some others not have to wait for the annual LHSA meeting! Unfortunately we'll be away the weekend of January 25, but any weekend after that.
