hi all,
I'm looking for an on-camera flash that is smallish but quite
powerful - guide number around 120 -150 genuine for my hand held 4x5"
shots (want to get to f22 @5ft)
I've used the Metz 40MZ series, pretty good, but find all the Q-flash
models etc too big. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just
full and half power. but a good guide number, with power for about 20
or 30 shots.
or has anyone used old flashbulbs - in which case whats a good
smallish on camera reflector to do this? and what do I look for?
thanks,
Paul

Flash for hand held 4x5" ?
in Large Format
Posted
hi,
I'm looking for an on camera flash for my hand held 4x5" portraits -
any answers?
I find the whole q-flash/lumedyne thing too big for what I'm doing
(which is about light weight and portability) My ideal is to have on
shoe (preferably not brackets etc, that becomes too big) flash with a
guide # of 120 or better 150.
I want to get to f22 at 5/6 feet for depth of field.
any recommendations??? even old models. I tried the Metz 40MZ series
(now discontinued) and it was the closest yet, but - I'd like to find
something better. I don't need auto anything. just lots of power from
a smallish size.
or - has anyone tried flashbulbs - a small reflector and bulbs might
work for me. any names to look for?
