Wow, what a moment. I think you did well not to bring the shadows up, but it could use a bit more distinction between the volcano and the plain in front of it. I'm not sure what you've tried in post processing but I think you could make it pop even more.

Went exploring on the bed of a lake. Due to dry conditions I was able to walk across dry land

to an island. This is one of my favourite landscape shots to date, what do you think of it?

I agree completely about the left side of the picture. I'll see what I can do in photoshop to maybe make this something nice.

Thanks very much for your input!

There's something about this shot that speaks to me, what do you

think? I'm not expecting high ratings because of the nature of the

thought, but I'd really appreciate some discussion. Am I crazy, or is

there something nice about this photo?

  1. I'm not a bird photographer, but I enjoy catching them when I can with

my limited equipment. I'm submitting this for critique and rating,

but as the rating system is bupkiss on this site, I'd much prefer some

feedback on what I can do to improve.

I'm not much of a bird shooter, but the birds in my area are pretty tame so that helps make

up for my lack of practice. I thought the sky and choice positioning here combined to make

a nice shot, what do you think?

Convert to B&W or no? Definitely has a monochrome feel, but I don't

think the hues on the face and shell are distracting. I'm pleased

with the texture and tight framing. What do you think?

This is my first attempt at macro, but it's obviously not a very

serious attempt. I realize I should've opened up the lens a bit more

to further sepearate subject and background. This was hand held, EF

    100mm f2.8 macro.

Any tips from the pros on doing handheld macros? Tips other than

"don't do handheld macros," please :) I already have my eyes on some

    rails for my tripod.
