  1. Stephen - the name of the lab I currently use in Spokane is R&R Colorlab, Inc. www.rrcolor.com They have a price list in PDF format if you're curious about their prices. Super people, nice store and great results. My only complaint is that they only send thru UPS, so even if I have a small order, I have to pay at least $7 to have it shipped to me.

Thanks, Bruce & Gregory.. I've read good things about ABL Imaging in other threads. Unfortunately their website is under construction... I guess I'll just have to send them an email or something.

  2. Hi, I'm in northern Idaho and I send my medium format film to Spokane,

WA for development & proofing. I get my color negative film scanned

at high res. with digital ICE and burned to CD. It costs around $0.54

per frame and they're nice big files. I will probably be relocating

to Alberta next year, and I am wondering if anyone knows of any places

in Canada, specifically Edmonton or Calgary, where I might find a

similar service. I like to be able to shoot on MF film, but offer my

clients proofs online so they can order them through my website. I

really like the lab I work with, but it wouldn't be very practical to

send my film 800 miles into another country to get it done. Any

recommendations would be awesome. I shoot Fuji film, but the lab I

    currently work with specializes in Kodak and I still get good results;

so I would prefer a Fuji-specific lab, but I can use Kodak people if I

    have to. ;-)

    Thanks,

    Isaiah

  3. I wouldn't need onsite security because I'd have the orders processed by a third party such as paypal. All I need is a system to assemble each gallery, attribute inventory ID's for each image which correspond to the full-res. images which I would keep archived at my studio. Prices would be the same for each image, depending on the size - the only variable would be *which* image and quantity per given size so that I know what to send to the lab once the order is processed. My webhost is Linux-based, it supports MySQL and PHP. It can do everything I want it to do if I just had the right script.

http://imageselect.us is almost exactly what I want, only it's not as simple as I want it to be. I don't want the flash stuff. If I could have the same functions as imageselect, only in html/php (no flash), and host it on my server, then I would be happy. I know enough to update and maintain it, if it had a simple form for generating the galleries (i.e. collecting from an image folder). I don't like the hassle of sending my photos to somebody else to create the gallery - I'd rather do it myself, or let the software do it. I just need the backend work done.

  4. I've got a deal worked out with a pro lab so that when I develop my

120 film and order proofs, each negative is scanned at high

resolution and held on their system for 6 months so that I don't need

the negative for reprints. Also I can have them burn them all to CD -

so I can save the digital files even long after it's been erased

from their computers. Fine and dandy. Now, since I'm beginning to

do a lot of weddings and portraits, what I want to do is take those

CD's, make an private online thumbnail gallery for each one and have

a shopping cart for my client where they or their friends and

relatives can easily order reprints from me. I've seen some places

which offer this service, but you have to use their lab, or host it

on their site. I already have everything worked out as far as

printing - I want the client to submit their order to me, and I take

care of it. I just need an online storefront that I can use on my

own domain (I have 2000MB of web space, no problem).

So, what I'm wondering is if anyone out there knows of something like

I've just described? Basically just simple shopping cart software

with private galleries that's database-driven so that I can upload

entire folders without having to create the galleries all by hand,

and the ability to let customers order reprints and enlargements with

my own prices. I could do this all by hand, but it would take

forever, especially with something like a wedding gallery. Maybe I

should just hire a programmer? Any answers or bright ideas would be

    great.
