so maybe people are getting sick of seeing images of pets, but I have
been in a slump and they are just so easy to shoot! This was the first
day I was playing around with my new 50mm 1.8.
I am trying to learn as much as possible so, break it down and give me
some tips!!

thanks for the suggestions. I do like the crop a little better now that I look at it a few times. I can see how the out of focus nose and background can distract from the eyes a little. I guess it never hurts to print both!
I think its a good example of how an image can produce a different final result the more you sit with it.

Please let me know what you think. Any comments and critiques would be
greatly appreciated and very helpful!
Thanks

i like this photo, i would also be interested in seeing it in color, if it were shot in color of course. My only suggestion, and take it for what its worth, is that the upper right hand corner is a little distracting. I think it would look a little better if it were cropped just enough so that the white wouldnt be seen. not too much, just enought to shave off some of that distraction. just my opinion. good job....

i really enjoy this photo. i like the contrast and the softness (if thats the right term). funny thing, i was just downtown seattle, shooting almost the exact same shot (without the homeless guy). Your photo is much better than my though! maybe i saw you! there was another guys shooting photos in the same area! that would be strange.

Sam patiently sat for me while I played around with some different
lighting setups. This is a single flash through a 28" softbox camera
right. I was going for a subtle look and left out a rim or background
flash. what do you think and what could I do to improve it?
