Nick, I would strongly recommend investing in the Pentax system for the following reasons:
1. The Pentax is the more rugged and durable camera for outdoor backpacking.
2. The Pentax is handholdable in many conditions.
3. With the Pentax adaptors, you can use a P67 lens on a Pentax 645!! This means you can use two formats with some interchangeablility. A smaller P645 with the sharp 33-55 zoom, and the P67 with a couple of lens would be my choice.
4. The Pentax has been used in the field by many photographers to produce high quality 'coffee table' type books, yet I've not heard of any using a Mamiya in the field, though no doubt there must be some!
Whatever system you choose, I wish you happy shooting. Do tell us what you buy and your experiences with it. And post some pictures too!
This is my first post, and I really like this web-site. Thanks photo.net
Front Filter for Canon 400mm F4.5, SSC
in Canon FD Mount
Posted
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has ever mounted a filter on the front of
a Canon telephoto which does not have filter threads, such as a
400,F4.5,SSC, or a 300,F4? The lens cap on the 400 reads 94mm, so
would I be right to suppose that a 95mm filter might be made to fit?
I like to use b&w film but am unable to buy the drop in filters here in HK
and I would like some front element protection as well. Thanks.
