Please rate and comment on this photo of Jocelyn. I just purchased a new camera, (Nikon D3200) and lens (Nikkor AF-S 50mm 1.8G). We spent about an hour or so at a lake near us taking different shots.
I am trying to improve on my photographic skills, and the only way I can get better, (besides watching 1,000's of YouTube videos) is by hearing your input. I want to hear the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Thank you in advance,
-Todd

I did this one for one of the stores I work for. They needed a picture to
place in a magazine for urban streetwear.

It's for an urban apparel store. They sell high-end footwear. Collector Nike's and other brands. Just showing this part of a shoe and the "sneakerheads" could tell you exactly which shoe this is, when it was available, and how many Nike made. I am going to add the name of the store vertically down the right side. I will post when completed.

Sorry, but I have to say it........."You NAILED it"
Great shot. Like the black & white look. "cold and dismal".

Nice shot, could we see it in sepia tone?

Thanks guys for the comments.
I'm sure you just made the models day with your comments Neil! We are trying to schedule another photo shoot sometime next week. I will take all the comments into consideration. (it's the only way to get better!)
Unfortunatly I cannot fix any of my posted photos because I had to learn the HARD way about the importance of backing up your photos to a CD/DVD. I had a computer MELTDOWN a couple of days ago and lost EVERYTHING!! I have since purchased an external hard drive to save my photos. All originals will then be saved to a CD/DVD! live and learn right???
Thanks again.

Jack-
Thanks for your comments. I like how you made statements that mirrored mine, the "picture is worth a thousand words" cliche. That is exactly why I like this photo...."What is she doing just sitting there?"
I have just critiqued myself after reading your comments, I think the color cast makes the shot too blue. The concrete is too close to the color of the bench (which, mind you was weathered wood grey.)
Thanks,

You're right, looking at the photo again, I probably could make the background B&W and leave the model color without losing too much. It was taken at around 12 or 1, that was the best time for me and the model. We do have another session next week, maybe we could get either an early morning or late afternoon time slot.
Thanks J

All critiques are accepted and helpfull. You too are correct with the shoulder being washed out. The help I could use is this: how do I correct this kind of error in post production? I tried to darken it, but when the shoulder was at the correct contrast, the rest of it was too dark! Any suggestions?
Thanks, and keep them coming!!

I am assuming that this was taken from a boat. Nice detail from a moving foundation! I am wondering if the lighthouse is leaning, or the horizon is tilted to the right a little. None-the-less, great shot. I am partial to all lighthouse shots.

Jim-
It was metered TTL. (can't afford a handheld right now). I was going to try to alter the horizon, but it made her look like she was leaning too far to the right. I could try to darken the fence and brighten her face. Maybe that would help to keep your eyes from being drawn to the fence instead of her face.
Good lookin', thanks.
